Engineering Team Leader

We’re on the hunt for a qualified, motivated and collaborative engineer to join our team in the newly created role of Engineering Team Lead Morning Shift. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this permanent role is based at our iconic manufacturing plant located in Papakura, Auckland, where we operate 24/5, across 3 shifts – you’d be working our Morning Shift 10:05pm – 6:05am. Here at Griffin’s Snacks we produce many iconic and much-loved kiwi brands, including Griffin’s, Eta, Nice’n’Natural and Huntley and Palmers, and we’re looking for someone who uses their initiative daily and who is keen to take their next career step into a leadership role. In this hands-on and fast paced role, you’ll be leading the shift and coordinating all contractors, resources and services to ensure all targets are met and safety standards followed. Alongside our Maintenance Manager, this role is also responsible for supporting the implementation of the agreed maintenance strategy. What you’ll be responsible for:

• Leading a team of 5 on shift – distributing tasks and resources and providing hands on support where required (including supervision of contractors)
• Ensuring the most cost-effective engineering processes are maintained, whilst meeting quality standards and production schedules
• Attending, servicing and resolving breakdowns on site
• Prioritising all work orders and liaising with relevant teams as required
• Supporting the wider team to maintain, adjust and service machinery
• Championing Health & Safety to drive GMP and ensure safe working practices are implemented
• Collaborating with all internal stakeholders to ensure highly performing lines, with a key focus on costs
• Identifying, developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives

What you’ll bring to the role?

• Minimum of 5+ years of qualified engineering, ideally within manufacturing environment (FMCG preferred)
• Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Leadership experience preferred – you lead from the front and both grow & inspire your team daily!
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Accountability – you confidently make (and own!) your decisions and can be counted on to do what you say you will!
