Mō te tīma / About our team

The Māori, Communities and Partnerships Group (MCP) is responsible for building capability across MSD to support the aspirations of Māori and connecting and collaborating to build effective partnerships and community approaches that achieve better outcomes for those who most need our support. The Service and Contracts Management team is responsible for managing a range of contracts with service providers and partners and supporting our industry partnerships with employers.

Te āhua o te tūranga / About the role

The Senior Project Manager ensures the successful delivery of key projects within the Māori, Communities, Partnerships, and Programmes (MCP) group. Collaborating with the Manager Disability and OSCAR, this role leads projects by applying expert knowledge and skills to meet stakeholder needs, while managing timelines, budgets, and quality outcomes. In addition to driving strategic alignment with stakeholders, the Senior Project Manager will mentor junior staff, enhancing the team's capability to deliver successful projects.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako / Skills and experience

  • Extensive experience in project/change management, ideally within the public service sector, with a strong understanding of the associated challenges and dynamics.
  • Proven track record in managing a variety of projects, including those with an Information Technology focus, utilizing multiple Project Management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated use of PMI methodology, with practical experience in applying Project Management methodologies and Better Business Case principles.
  • Ability to see the 'big picture' and grasp the strategic context of projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Proven leadership in coordinating and integrating projects, with strong decision-making skills.
  • Experience in managing contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) effectively.
  • Competence in using office software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets, and project planning tools.
  • A solid understanding of Service Delivery business processes and strategy, including knowledge of computer systems used in government payment delivery.
  • Experience in government processes, including Better Business Case development, is desirable.
  • Ability to understand financial data, cost out options, and support recommendations with quantitative analysis.
  • Strong ability to work with numbers, produce, and interpret relevant statistics.

Salary range

$116,827.00 - $141,873.00
