Job Description Job Purpose The Financial Manager leads all day-to-day accounting operations, with functional responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, and reporting. Responsibilities also include production of financial reports; proper maintenance of accounting records; accurate processing of financial transactions and administration of a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and result in flawless audits. Supports financial decision making information by collecting, processing, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data. RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Management Prepare accurate monthly financial and management reports, including income statement, balance sheet, budget and variance, projections and forecast, and cash flow Analyses complex financial data and extracts and define relevant information; interpret data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project financial probability Manage, review and approve all payments in line with standard operating procedures Review and approve month-end closing procedures, including expense allocations, account and bank reconciliations, and updating of related schedules Maintain an orderly accounting filing system Tracking and analysis of business performance in comparison to budget Preparation and submission of VAT and Income Tax Preparation of business models and due diligence as requested by Leadership Effective Management of the operational finances Internal Controls Manage audit requirements and remediate findings Design and Implement controls and procedures particularly on receivables, payables, fixed assets, etc. Work with Senior Management and Group Risk to implement recommendations for improvement of financial management systems Continuous review of the relevant accounting systems to ensure more efficient and effective reporting Review of daily supplier payments to ensure all company approval policies and SARS requirements are adhered to Effective Management of the operational finance department by establishing and maintaining financial mechanisms that reduces or mitigate financial risk Financial Management Support (Larger Co.) Review of business unit to ensure revenue is complete and accurate and all related expenses are accurately correctly classified Review and analysis of divisional performance against budgeted and producing reports Review and approval of all supplier payments through sign of on expense payment packs and reconciliations Review bank reconciliations Prepare and manage budget workbooks Preparation of tax calculations Reducing of operating cost where possible by seeking new and renegotiating existing contracts Reviewing of expenses and identifying opportunities for cost-saving Review of suppliers and debtors ageing to ensure trade taking place within limits Self-Management Follow through to ensure that personal quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained Demonstrate consistent application of internal procedures Plan and prioritise, demonstrating abilities to manage competing demands Demonstrate abilities to anticipate and manage change Demonstrate flexibility in balancing achievement of own objectives with abilities to understand and respond to organizational needs Job Requirements Behavioural Competencies Ensures Accountability Manages Complexity Plans and Aligns Business Insight Financial Acumen Balances Stakeholders Resourcefulness Customer Focus Cultivates Innovation Instills Trust Collaborates Situational Adaptability Skills Data Collection and Analysis Computer Skills Compliance Management Assessment Data Control Costing and Budgeting Presentation skills Education Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting CA(SA) Experience Minimum 2 years' experience in similar role
