We are looking for a Financial Controller (m/f) based in Johannesburg. In this role, you will be reporting to Chief Financial Officer at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty South Africa (AGCS SA). Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Preparation of accurate and timely delivered management accounts for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SA (AGCS SA) and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty Africa on a monthly basis. Preparation of accurate and timely delivered Annual Financial Statement for AGCS SA and AGCS Africa on an annual basis.
- Preparation and submission of accurate and timely tax elements of AGCS SA and AGCS Africa, including Corporate taxation and Value Added Tax.
- Preparation of accurate and timely delivered regulatory reporting for AGCS SA and AGCS Africa on a quarterly basis. The main deliveries include the Prudential Authority, the South African Reserve Bank, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority and SASRIA.
- Planning and execution of a successful credit control function to ensure the recovery of debtors and the reduction of inadmissible assets to maximise capital efficiency.
- Managing the full Risk Management function with the support of Group Risk Management.
- Accurate and timely payment of vendors, including suppliers, co-insurers, reinsurers and staff related payments.
- Qualification in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting or comparable degree preferred or qualified by experience in related discipline.
- Qualified Chartered Accountant or qualified Actuary.
- 5-7 years’ experience within the accounting department of an insurer or broker.
- Good understanding of insurance financial statements and their performance measurement including drivers.
- Basic knowledge of local GAAP, IAS/IFRS, Regulatory, Tax and other relevant requirements with regards to reporting, compliance and declaration.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to handle complex processes (closing, reporting, finance operations).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Tools such as Excel to effectively analyze data.
- Solid skills in SAP General Ledger Accounting or similar other general ledger system.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team and international working environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Data-driven and innovation minded.
