At Kmart, we value teamwork, inclusion, and excellence. Reporting to the Country Manager – People & Capability (P&C) we are looking for a People & Capability Business Partner ideally with retail experience who can partner with the Zone and Store Managers in Aotearoa, New Zealand to align P&C strategies and business objectives. You will provide P&C support to our Kmart stores, balancing strategic thinking and hands-on implementation. You will also travel including overnights to our store network and engage with our team members directly.

What you’ll be doing

As a People & Capability Business Partner working for Kmart you will:

  • Deliver the key people cyclical activities to a high standard, which include, talent reviews, succession planning, performance reviews, the annual remuneration review and engagement surveys.
  • Work on and implement key projects that support the broader people plan.
  • Support recruitment across our stores.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and provide advice on people matters to the store teams and Zone Managers.
  • Work collaboratively with our New Zealand support teams and national office teams, such as Safety, People Advisory, Payroll, Leadership and Capability, Talent and Engagement and many more!
  • Be an effective and positive change agent, who continually champions making Kmart a great place to work that is simple to run, to make everyday living brighter for our team and customers.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Three or more years’ experience as a P&C generalist role and/or retail store management.
  • The ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders and build rapport quickly
  • The ability to work at a fast pace and juggle multiple priorities must be optimistic with a can-do attitude
  • Experience in facilitating face-to-face learning sessions to increase team member capability
  • Capacity to travel to support our Zones – a clean driver licence is a must.
