Director, Facilities Management DivisionEntityLocationIntroduction Chartered in 1983, Aga Khan University (AKU) is a private, autonomous and self-governing international university with 13 teaching sites in 6 countries distributed across three continents. Responsibilities Reporting to the Chief Facilities and Administrative Services Officer, you will lead a team of diversified professionals and be responsible to formulate a clear strategic direction for technical services and processes, ensuring that the Division's vision, mission and values are upheld, and consistent with University's plans. You are expected to be a positive change agent, having a passion for designing innovative programs in quality management systems, which are more proximal to patient care. Specific responsibilities will include: Building strategic relationships with key stakeholders along with support to other AKDN partners as and when required, globally and locallyEvaluating risks, business trade-offs and making changes for the development of optimal business solutions and resultsProviding routine updates to project sponsors and stakeholders. Determining and designing the analytical framework of projects, including evaluation mechanisms for project outcomesPreparing divisional budget, managing, and monitoring financial and human resourcesPlanning, coordinating and leading the initiatives of all the technical and other services falling under the Facilities Management Division, including but not limited to, biomedical engineering, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, civil & grounds, power generation etc., as per the set standards to ensure efficient services to usersProviding support to ensure that the expectations of internal and external customers are met while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standardsReviewing of current processes and systems for further improvementIntroducing and implementing innovative ideas in order to achieve cost reductions and providing direction, consultation for the implementation of new programsIntroducing initiatives and strategies for the recruitment, retention and development of all staff to enhance their technical capacityServing as a role model; providing leadership and problem-solving support to peers, direct reports and to customers in a manner that facilitates strong relationshipsProviding project management and overall facilitation for prioritizing and advocating initiatives. Implement systems and processes that support division' s philosophyActively participating in all patient care initiatives and representing AKU at national and international forums. Requirements You should have: Master's / Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferably in Mechanical or Electrical from a recognized University is mandatory. Master's degree would be preferreda minimum of 10 to 12 years of progressive experience of managing facilities, staff supervision, budget management, training programs or other related areas in a large multi-size organizationAnalytical and focused thinking with clearly defined and establish standards by understanding the implications and its impactExcellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to describe complex ideas in clear and meaningful forms and to present data and information to various audiencesStrong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, power plant, biomedical/electronics etc.A successful track-record of managing organizational utilities with a demonstrated credibility and reputation for delivering valueAn entrepreneurial drive with the ability to work in a dynamic and unpredictable environmentAbility to work with multidisciplinary teams both individually and collectivelySupervise and work with a group of core staff responsible for smooth functioning of the services to achieve the objectives.
