Profile Summary The objective of this job description is to ensure the efficient and effective management of the finance function within the organization. This includes overseeing accounting and bookkeeping, reviewing financial transactions for accuracy, preparing and monitoring annual plans and budgets, and developing internal controls and procedures. Tasks & Deliverables

  1. To oversee the accounting and bookkeeping function and ensure that all books of account are maintained and updated accurately and completely.
  2. Review all the payment vouchers, journal vouchers, and other transactions posted into the system to ensure accuracy and correct charging.
  3. To prepare an Annual Plan and Budget for the Finance component, monitor performance against the approved Plan and Budget; take corrective action as required, and obtain ED/PMC/Donor approval thereof.
  4. To prepare an Annual Budget Document for income and expenditure (Capital & Operating), Program-wise, for approval by the Top Management Team and to distribute approved Budgets to each cost center.
  5. To maintain & run an efficient and effective Management Reporting system whereby the following periodic financial reports are prepared and submitted to Sr. Management:
  • Income & Expenditure Report Sungi Monthly
  • Budget vs Actual Project wise Monthly
  • Budget vs Actual Sungi
  • To fulfill Donor’s financial reporting requirements & submit periodic reports to donors as per contractual obligation.
  • To review/prepare the budget of the upcoming projects/proposals in close coordination with RME and present to Director Finance for review and approval.
  • To assist the Executive Director, Director Finance, BOG Members, and all Program Heads in finance-related matters.
  • To develop and implement Internal Controls and standard financial procedures and formats.
  • To coordinate with the internal audit department during the audit of selected areas.
  • To ensure efficient provision of financial services within Sungi; e.g. salary disbursement, personal taxation, cash demands etc.
  • Ensure timely preparation of Sungi’s Annual Financial Statement within the first quarter of the close of the financial year.
  • To coordinate with external auditors of Sungi’s accounts, ensure timely completion of external audit and provide necessary support and information to Auditors.
  • Ensure timely preparation of Bank Reconciliation Statements of all Sungi Bank Accounts and submit for review and approval of Director Finance on a monthly basis.
  • Close coordination with Sungi’s bankers and ensure best service delivery.
  • To oversee the matters related to income tax, sales tax, and other regulators. Ensure compliance with relevant/applicable sections and clauses of income tax and sales tax.
  • To ensure withholding of tax from payments and deposit the same into Government treasury within stipulated time.
  • To provide inputs and support including training and development to Finance staff.
  • To participate, as a member of the top team, in the development of institutional level policies for Sungi; also offer specialist advice relating to his/her job.
  • To arrange expert evaluation of the program & finance-related matters.
Qualification & Experience
  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Commerce or Business Administration/ CA Inter and Articles completed.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience of using Quick Books Accounting Software & good hands-on experience in Microsoft Excel.
  • Hands-on knowledge of income and sales tax laws.
