Johnson College of Business that researches, teaches and communicates about monetary and non-monetary rewards from work. We train and prepare the next generation of compensation professionals to bring insight and creativity to the field. We serve as a bridge between academia and enlightened corporations advancing the state of practice. We offer students from across Cornell University research opportunities analyzing the full spectrum of issues and challenges surrounding monetary and non-monetary rewards from work.What you will do:This position will assist in the execution of The Institute for Compensation Studies mission of promoting cooperation and collaboration between academics with an interest in compensation and forward-looking compensation professionals wishing to innovate and implement leading edge thinking in the fields of incentives, decision theory, and corporate governance.This position will oversee the continued development and execution of activities that will bring leading edge compensation professions and academics under the auspices of ICS to collaborate on the design and execution of innovative compensation programs. Broaden the membership and sustainability of ICS by strengthening its long-term financial viability. Bring recognition to and prestige for the Institute and more broadly, Cornell University. (Re)Establish Cornell as the academic hub for the field of compensation studies (first established by George Milkovich in the 1980s).This position will be responsible for four key initiatives:A Professional Fellows program that builds affiliation and connections to ICS to support innovative initiatives. An Annual Symposium in partnership with ICS Corporate Fellow that convenes compensation professionals (consultants and corporate leaders) and academics in a 1-2 day workshop to focus on an important topic of mutual interest. An Advanced Compensation Studies eCornell certificate including a foundational course on Executive Compensation to be developed for use in the EMHRM program. One regularly offered 7-week course on Executive Compensation and Corporate Governance for undergraduates and MILRs.Activities:Lead industry engagement outreach for ICS Applied research with corporate partnersICS Executives Forum membership and programmingSupport ICS academic director in planning and executing strategic convenings Emerging Issues SymposiumNational Case Study CompetitionTeach equivalent of 1 degree/credit course per year in ILR School Assist in the development of compensation-related e-Cornell courses Select ICS initiatives Newsletter summarizing relevant compensation related researchStudent advising and coachingSenior Extension Associate is a part-time (50%) academic, non-tenure track, term position with an initial appointment July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026.
