Multi-Skilled Machine Operator Pontefract home of Butterkist Popcorn 6-9 Months Fixed term roles (possibility to go permanent in the future) We have a number of permanent and fixed term opportunities for Machine Operators to join the friendly team at our Pontefract site. As a Machine Operator, you'll work within an IWS line structure, reporting into the Line Lead. Please note that our location can be difficult to access by public transport at certain shift start and finish times. The opportunities we have available are:

  • Permanent role working static nights Monday to Thursday 10pm to 6am and Friday 8pm-3am, but the successful candidate must be able to work a 3 shift rotation Monday to Friday 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am on a weekly rotation as the working hours will change in the near future.
  • 9 month term roles working 3 shift rotation Monday to Friday 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am on a weekly rotation as the working hours will change in the near future.
  • 6 month term role working 3 shift rotation Monday to Friday 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am on a weekly rotation as the working hours will change in the near future.

  • Competently operating numerous machines including packing and processing lines
  • Efficiently carrying out any assigned operation or tasks, meeting all output targets
  • Effectively contributing to improved line performance and efficiencies
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping, health & safety and hygiene standards
  • Resolving running problems/issues
  • Carrying out all testing procedures for product as and when required
  • Ensuring all stages of work are checked against quality standards
  • Cleaning of lines after a changeover or for a shut down
  • Following IWS ways of working principles

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Previous experience within manufacturing or the food industry (highly desirable)
  • Level 2 in Food Safety for Manufacturing (desirable, although bespoke training is provided)
  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • The ability to take ownership and accountability
  • The ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is imperative
  • The ability to work independently as well as within a team
