Position Description

We have a fantastic opportunity in our centralised Key Control Testing function for a candidate who is highly motivated, with a strong accounting and auditing background and capability. The position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work as part of the Key Control Testing (KCT) team delivering a service to Governance and Business Managers, across the ESB Group, to test the operation of controls for key financial processes. The KCT team is responsible for providing assurance to the business that key financial controls are operating in line with identified and documented processes and also identify opportunities for improvement in internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support the delivery of the annual Key Control Testing programme across the ESB Group.
  2. Deliver the KCT programme to best practice standards.
  3. Responsible for the assessment of control environment, evaluating the business process and understanding the controls, risks and exposures applicable.
  4. Report on whether key controls are operating and effective.
  5. Provide recommendations for control environment improvement as appropriate.
  6. Provide assistance and advice in governance and compliance.
  7. Manage relationships with key stakeholders.
  8. Deliver continuous improvement initiatives and various projects within the KCT function.

Experience and Qualifications

  1. A professional accounting qualification plus 2 years PQE with recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA).
  2. Governance related qualification or training is desirable.
  3. Excellent understanding of best practice Governance, Risk and Compliance.
  4. Strong auditing skills, ability to identify issues, root causes and corrective actions.
  5. Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
  6. Highly motivated – able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Location

This position will be based in ESB’s Head Office at Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2. ESB is committed to smart working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working. The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Reporting To

This role will report to the Key Control Testing Manager.
