Position Description

The role is as a senior member of the pricing team supporting the business to provide innovative and competitive products and prices across all market sectors and requires strong analytical skills. This requires interaction with all areas of the business in setting and communication of residential electricity and gas prices in ROI and NI.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project manage the pricing process by collaborating with the wider Strategy, Products Proposition, Pricing, Trading, and Finance teams to agree the inputs to the price stack and agree timelines and delivery.
  2. Be able to interpret, understand, review, and analyse electricity and gas Industry consultation papers and make the necessary changes to the costs inputs in the pricing stack and have the ability to forecast these rates.
  3. Prepare the price stacks for the price change analysis. This involves a detailed price review and changes as required including customer impact analysis of price changes and pricing of products.
  4. Show leadership in the price change end-to-end process by working with Products and Proposition, Finance, Reporting, BPIT, Operations, PR and Communications, and Web Teams to ensure that all price changes and structures are implemented and communicated correctly and effectively.
  5. Be competent in analysing the tariffs for profitability and be able to prepare tariff related queries and enquiries for both internal and external customers.
  6. Reporting and Competitive Analysis: Analyse competitors' offers in electricity and gas markets.
  7. Pricing inputs to Sales Reports, Budgeting, Quarterly forecasts.
  8. Pricing input to support residential and business markets business cases for new products and services as required.
  9. Implement continuous improvement to existing processes and systems and update existing desk procedures and provide relevant training to other team members.
  10. Supporting the Products Proposition team with analysis of pricing and margins for tenders or new products introduction.
  11. Deliver quality and timely pricing service to various stakeholders.
  12. Prepare Electric Ireland input to comply with statutory obligations regarding Eurostat international price comparisons.
  13. Ability to gather business requirements and input to functional specifications for pricing systems and models. Ability to define and run test scripts and validate results.

Experience and Qualifications

  1. 4-5 years numerical or analytical work experience.
  2. A relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential.
  3. Experienced and competent in the use of computer-based modelling packages and in the use of complex Excel spreadsheets.
  4. Proven track record of understanding complex issues with many influencing factors.
  5. Excellent numeracy and analytical skills.
  6. Strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
  7. Attention to detail with ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy.
  8. Good communication and presentation skills.
  9. Innovative and is a self-starter.
  10. Strong team working skills.
  11. Knowledge of Electric Ireland tariffs and price plans.
  12. Knowledge of the retail and/or wholesale energy markets.
  13. Previous experience in delivering system changes.
  14. Previous experience in Electricity and Gas modelling or forecasting.
  15. Regulatory knowledge in relation to ROI and NI.

Location

This position is based in Swift Square, Santry, Dublin 9. ESB is committed to smart working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working. The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week.
