ROM Governors is committed to being the country's top cultural foundation because of its success in building highly engaged, impactful donor and other community relationships.POSITION SUMMARY:The AVP, Events & Celebrations is responsible for providing strategic insight, industry knowledge, volunteer management, overall leadership, and operations of the Events and Celebrations portfolio. The AVP, Events & Celebrations provides oversight of the day-to-day operations of this portfolio, ensuring that annual revenue targets are met by creating appealing and strategic events that contribute to ROM Governors' fundraising goals, build awareness, and elevate donor engagement for all segments. Developing a comprehensive event strategy, delivering and monitoring annual and long-range event plans will be key priorities.The AVP, Events & Celebrations is a senior member of the Operations & Fundraising team and will play a key role in the success of our comprehensive campaign that will raise funds to support the ROM's priorities of infrastructure, endowment, emerging curatorial and program priorities, and core operations.This portfolio has one direct report. Responsibilities will include coaching, mentoring, and managing performance expectations of this position.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead the ROM Governors Signature Events and Celebrations PortfolioDevelop strategy and maintain oversight of ROM Governors events and celebrations across all donor programs. Leverage existing events to engage new / multiple donor groups. Deliver financial and fundraising results as outlined in the annual fundraising and business plan. Lead the planning of signature events inclusive of ROM Classic Golf tournament and ROM Ball and ROM Celebration. Lead signature and campaign events which require corporate partnerships and in-kind support. Represent Governors internally and externally to the highest professional standards including interactions with ROM Executive, Government officials, Donors and Patrons. Hire, train, and mentor the secondary Events positionExplore digital platforms for event and engagement opportunities. Utilize digital resources to analyze and report on event metrics, opportunities and KPIs. Development and management of event and portfolio budgetsSupport the Events Marketing & Communications StrategySupport all aspects of event marketing and communications under the leadership of the EVP and the Vice President, Communications, such as sponsorship proposals, event websites, event invitations, event collateral materials, email promotions, event signage, speaking remarks and presentations. Create and Steward Essential cross-departmental relationships The AVP, Events & Celebrations is the primary connector between ROM Governors and multiple internal ROM departments and groups including Communications, Stewardship, Philanthropy, ROM Leadership, Curatorial, Security and A/V, Programs, Events and Corporates Services (PECS), as well as external vendors. The AVP, Events & Celebrations is an experienced and respected leader and a relationship manager who creates, enhances, and maintains rapport and connection with these complex departments, which are key to the success of the event portfolio. Identify, Steward, Engage External Committees and Agencies This role will interact with external committees and agencies as applicable, and requires a high degree of communications skills, discretion, professionalism, and polish. The AVP, Events & Celebration will facilitate the solicitation process for volunteer committees by identifying and qualifying prospects and motivate and assist volunteer committees to meet the overall objectives of each event. Represent ROM to External Partners and VendorsThe AVP, Events & Celebrations will work with suppliers to coordinate event logistics and produce event materials. Establish and foster strong connections with event venues, external marketing and event agencies, and other arts, culture, and tourism organizations. They will also need to identify, confirm, and manage in-kind partnerships and event sponsorships associated with ROM Governors. QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:Minimum of 6 years of experience in event management and experience in marketing and communications across several mediums. Ability to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency and attention to detail. Demonstrated track record of securing event fundraising and sponsorship Resourcefulness and independence, while remaining comfortable working within the framework of an integrated development program and team-oriented environment. Experience working with senior volunteers, executive leadership, and other community stakeholdersExperience with digital events and familiarity with digital event management platforms. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion. Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Strong strategic thinking capabilities and problem-solving skills. Superior project management and prioritizing skill. Familiarity with Adobe Create Suite is an asset. Familiarity with Microsoft BI and Raiser's Edge NXT is an asset. Familiarity with ChatGPT and other AI applications is an asset. A flexible schedule which allows for after-hours events and meetings is required.
