Reporting to the Director, Business Development, the Senior Manager, Business Development (SMBD) is responsible for developing new business opportunities, supporting assigned accounts and achieving stated goals and objectives in support of the Residential Lending department. This individual will be responsible for successfully contributing to the overall portfolio growth and maximizing profitability in an entrepreneurial environment focused on service and operational excellence. The SMBD will be responsible for providing support to a small portfolio of brokers while supporting the assigned territory sales team with training, coaching, escalations and other assigned activities. This role is results driven, competitive and exemplifies the spirit of a team player. In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to: Execute the business development strategies and successfully contribute to the department's business plan. Develop sales strategies to increase market share, analyze opportunities and create plans to maintain continuity, and achieve growth and sales objectives. Coach, train and mentor Business Development Managers (BDMs) to help them achieve their goals Provide support and advice on escalations to BDMs in assigned region Support the Director, Business Development with research, competitive intel, industry trends to help grow within the company's strategic objectives Act as Brand Ambassador in assigned region Partner with Residential Lending Operations team to support and service partners within assigned territories. Develop and foster broker and partner relationships while always maintaining the highest level of professionalism and service standards. Balance strong problem solving and decision-making abilities while meeting the region performance targets and maintaining effective internal and external relationships. Maintain a strong sales funnel with focus on activity to ensure continuous sales and growth goals are met. Track, analyze and report key pipeline, opportunity, forecast and sales productivity metrics. Actively participate in business development events, tradeshows and presentations as required. Provide support and/or recommendations for process improvements to the Director, Business Development as appropriate. Follow AML procedures on all files with an emphasis on "Know Your Client" rules. Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with company's policies and procedures. Work as a liaison with Risk Management, Compliance and Internal Audit functions to support business by owning and performing activities, when and where applicable, such as risk and control self-assessments, new initiative risk assessments, risk appetite, loss event reporting, issues management, vendor management evaluations and oversight, compliance assessments, and internal audits. Cultivate and drive risk and compliance culture within the function and the organization. Other duties as required So are YOU our next Senior Manager, Business Development? You are if you… Minimum of 5 years experience in the mortgage industry Minimum of 2 years related experience in alternative lending Post-Secondary Education preferred Proven track record in meeting and exceeding established sales targets. Excellent presentation skills. Strong business communication skills, written and verbal Strong relationship building skills Solid understanding of the characteristics, attributes and risk factors associated with various loan types. Bring a positive, can-do attitude to our organization, using creative solutions to solve problems. Strong team player who motivates others to achieve group success. Establish and build on healthy working relationships with your team and peers. Use open communication and collaboration to solve problems and manage deliverables. Work well in a dynamic and fast paced environment with the ability to navigate through organizational change. Demonstrates strong negotiation, planning, organizational and time management skills Capable of handling multiple tasks and meeting stringent deadlines. Results oriented and a high achiever.
