MHI Canada Aerospace, Inc. (MHICA), a group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, is a Tier 1 manufacturer of major aircraft structures and assemblies, based in Mississauga, Ontario. Over the past decade, MHICA has built more than aircraft components, it has built a recognized worldwide reputation for capacity, precision, on-time delivery and excellence. MHICA has two state-of-the-art facilities combined to 476,000 sq. ft. This comprises of Manufacturing & Assembly, Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain, where more than 400 highly skilled employees are working on Bombardier's sector-leading Global 5000/6000 and Challenger 350 business aircraft. MHICA's technicians build and join wing assemblies and fuselage sections, as well as perform systems and flight control assembly installations and testing. Scope of Position Reporting to the COO, the Director - Strategic Sourcing oversees the review and creation of procurement strategies and drives supplier performance to maximize efficiency and minimize costs. Manages supplier development and conducts supplier reviews,   building and fostering supplier partnerships to identify risks and opportunities. Evaluates and sources potential new suppliers, leads strategic contract negotiations with key suppliers and clarifies supplier obligations for proper contract execution. Proactive foresight and industry insight to plan ahead for supply chain issues and risk mitigation. Key Responsibilities Lead the internal business functions through existing supplier performance evaluations and contract reviews Engage in market research, competitive analysis and identify industry trends to better understand the supplier landscape, and conditions that affect supply chain, product availability, forecasts and/or material pricing Evaluate, develop, and implement sourcing strategies to provide enhanced supplier choice and new product suppliers for industrialization of parts and configuration of new parts Lead supplier selection process, identification of alternative sources and backup suppliers, and guide complex and/or large-scale RFPs and contract negotiations Maintain the repository of contracts, communicate contract terms and track expirations for stakeholders Establish a standard supplier review process to lower costs, mitigate re-work, ensure MHICA changes are incorporated by the supplier and support the supplier with the goal of mutually beneficial outcomes Provide ongoing reporting on the status of any critical relationships or pending challenges that could affect planning and impact the Master Schedule, lead times and/rate readiness Collaborate with Quality function to proactively perform audits of suppliers, oversee supplier intervention, and conduct inspections Build partnerships with suppliers to better understand their business plans, and make recommendations to maintain or conclude a supplier relationship Prioritize and lead the continuous improvement process for programs within Strategic Sourcing Develop and manage the operating budget for the Sourcing organization Skills & Experience Knowledge of key industry players, competitors, and market dynamics to effectively plan the procurement strategy and development of a proactive supply chain plan Seasoned builder of strong relationships across internal functions and externally with industry and supplier network, encouraging collaboration and partnerships Impactful combination of analytical, financial, and technical acumen, and a commanding presence in order to retain of position of strength when communicating with suppliers to influence outcomes Critical thinker and innovative problem solver who drives effective decision making and gets ahead of issues Extensive experience negotiating contracts and SLAs with key suppliers, ensuring clarity of costs, terms of supply and delivery, service, performance, and quality in supplier agreements Effective use of project management, change management and service level management approaches Advocate of knowledge transfer, transparent communication and promoting a strategic versus tactical focus Experience sourcing parts for the aircraft industry, manufacturing, or production environment Education & Training & Qualifications Degree in Business, Engineering and/or a technical field or the equivalent combination of education and experience 10+ years of senior level responsible for sourcing/vendor management in a related industry, working with multiple business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment Additional education/formal training or specialization in procurement management, supply chain logistics and/or project management will be advantageous Exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal - coupled with a high sense of commitment, and a willingness to accept responsibilities while acting independently in a dynamic environment Intermediate or advanced level in all MS Office applications including MS Project, PowerPoint, and Excel Availability to travel to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships and represent the MHICA at industry events Please note - the Company will conduct a criminal background check upon hire.
