This creates a vibrant opportunity for educators and community-focused individuals to make a lasting impact.About the OpportunityEabametoong First Nation is seeking full-time Teachers for Junior, Intermediate, and Special Education classes, based in Eabamet Lake, ON.Reporting to the EFNEA Principal, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing and developing the academic abilities and cultural understanding of our students.In this position, you will be primarily responsible for delivering educational programs that adhere to established curricula while promoting respect for Native heritage and community values.More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Teaching diligently the classes or subjects assigned by the principalEncouraging students in the pursuit of learningInculcating values such as respect for the Creator, self, and environmentMaintaining order and discipline in the classroom and school groundsParticipating in professional development days as designatedConducting classroom activities in accordance with the school timetablePreparing teaching plans and course outlines when requestedPromoting native language and heritage through classroom displays and coursesAbout YouTo qualify, you must be certified to teach in a Canadian province, preferably with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or a comparable teaching degree from another province. You should have 2+ years of experience in education, ideally within environments similar to First Nations communities. If your education was obtained outside Canada, a current evaluation of your qualifications will be required. Ability to undergo a Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector checks will also be required.Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:Awareness and appreciation of First Nations cultureAbility to communicate effectively and engage respectfully with diverse cultures and passionate community membersAdaptability to remote and culturally unique living conditionsProven experience in creating and maintaining a nurturing, supportive and inclusive learning environmentAn appreciation for living on the land with an interest in outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, and huntingExperience with or willingness to learn about local traditions and customsCapacity to handle the physical and logistical challenges of a rural settingOpenness to participating in community activities and eventsAs our ideal candidate, you will possess resilience, patience, compassion, and empathy that will make you succeed in this role, as well as a genuine love for the land and First Nations culture that will make you a perfect cultural fit.
