EL2 Senior Director, Litigation and Dispute Resolution - Vacancy Details - Aurion Position : Organisation Unit : Location : Tenure : Closing : Synopsis : Overview of the Legal Group and the roleThe work of the Legal Group is diverse and varied, and includes:Investigation and prosecution support regarding alleged breaches of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act);Claims litigation - legal advice and decision support for Comcare's claims management functions, conducting merits review proceedings in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT), conducting judicial appeals and providing legal and strategic advice on evidence and risk;Legal advice and support for all legislation administered by Comcare, including corporate and governance functions; Developing delegated legislation and support to Comcare's involvement in developing primary legislation; Supporting the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission and the Seacare Authority; and Monitoring and managing litigation in the Comcare scheme.As the Senior Director in the Legal Group, you will contribute to the strategic leadership of the Legal Group and support the General Manager Legal in the effective delivery of legal services to Comcare.The Senior Director will establish and implement a new litigation operating model and manage a change process integrating new and existing processes for:responding to Royal Commissions and other external inquiries and hearings as required;instructing on Federal Court litigation.monitoring Comcare's litigation portfolio and oversight of litigation risk.developing Comcare's overall litigation strategy and specific initiatives.engaging with external stakeholders.managing Comcare asbestos related claims litigation.other litigation and dispute resolution services as required to support Comcare's functions (excluding prosecutions).The Senior Director will lead the litigation and dispute resolution team and be responsible for the strategy, oversight, risk management and conduct of Comcare's Claims litigation. You will demonstrate high level leadership capability, people management skills and stakeholder engagement skills that demonstrate an ability to achieve organisational objectives through successful planning and participating, contributing and collaborating across Comcare.The Senior Director will resolve problems and manage risk effectively. They will manage their own workload autonomously while ensuring regular progress updates are available to Executive. Mandatory Qualifications/ExperienceUndergraduate degree in law.Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.Current unrestricted practising Certificate or ability to obtain one within 3 months.10 years or more post admission experience as a legal practitioner.Experience in providing investigation support and conducting prosecutions in a criminal law or regulatory environment will be highly regarded.Security ClearanceAbility to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.Specific ConditionsSome intra and interstate travel may be required, including overnight absences.How to applyPlease provide a one page pitch outlining what you could bring to this position including your skills, experience and knowledge relevant to the job specific capabilities and role (maximum 1 page).
