ROM Governors is committed to being the country's top cultural foundation because of its success in building highly engaged, impactful donor and other community relationships.POSITION SUMMARY:The AVP, Finance at the Foundation for ROM Governors is a vital position. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, Operations, the AVP, Finance, is responsible for the day-to-day fiscal operations including the maintenance of all accounts and financial systems and accurate up-to-date financial records. Responsible for fund management, investment accounting, financial reporting and contributions to the overall culture and work of the Foundation, the AVP, Finance will ensure that ROM Governors has the right systems and procedures in place and will work closely with program leaders and their teams, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures, but also to explore how the finance function can support program operations.This portfolio has one dotted line report. Responsibilities will include coaching, mentoring, and managing performance expectations of this position in conjunction with the primary manager.RESPONSIBILITIES:Financial Management and AdministrationOversees and maintains completeness and accuracy of G/L. Performs monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings and prepares quarterly statements, account reconciliations comparing actual to budget performance, analyzing and explaining variances. Tracks and approves all expenses. Reconciles financial database with donor database on a monthly basis. Works with EVP, Operations to develop and update Foundation policies and procedures. Coordinates all audit activity, including Corporation and CRA tax filings. Works with EVP, Operations to develop quarterly reporting for Board Committees. Budgeting and ForecastingSupports annual business planning development. Assists with program budget development and reporting. Assists AVP, Operations and Campaign with grant budgeting and reporting. Assists AVP, Operations and Campaign with Campaign reporting. Investment PortfolioTracks and reports on portfolio activity on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Administers the function of purchase and sale transactions with investment firms. Monitors investment portfolio and market trends. Prepares portfolio reports for quarterly Investment Committee meetings. GrantingAnnually prepares grant budget by fund. Tracks process to budget on a monthly basis. Proactively monitors and actions funds as activities are planned and performed. Cash FlowPrepares and monitors cash flow schedule quarterly and annually. Works with EVP, Operations to develop and monitor cash for campaign funds and projects. Establishes finance and administrative systems to support program operations. Reconciles short-term cash investments by project. QualificationsAccounting designation - CPA. Bachelor's Degree (preferably in a related field - accounting/finance). 7-10 years of strong fund accounting experience. Demonstrated competency in accounting and internal controls with a thorough understanding of accounting theory and accepted accounting principles, budgeting, general ledger maintenance and analysis, financial reporting, and investment analysis and reporting. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Database software, and the use of integrated financial applications. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and execute high quality projects. Experienced working in the not-for-profit or philanthropic sector. QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:Accounting designation - CPA. Bachelor's Degree (preferably in a related field - accounting/finance). 7-10 years of strong fund accounting experience. Demonstrated competency in accounting and internal controls with a thorough understanding of accounting theory and accepted accounting principles, budgeting, general ledger maintenance and analysis, financial reporting, and investment analysis and reporting. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Database software, and the use of integrated financial applications. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and execute high quality projects. Experienced working in the not-for-profit or philanthropic sector.
