Our client in Ottery, Cape Town is looking to employ a motivated and experienced Design Engineer.Following entry criteria: In possession of a tertiary engineering degree/Diploma (Mechanical, Draughtsman and Mechatronics).3+ years' experience in a technical design role preferably in the plastics manufacturing industry.Proficient in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) with 5+ years experience.Understand the fabrication processors to rapidly turn concepts into ready-to-manufacture designs.Possess a strong understanding of engineering principles.Strong attention to detail to ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and adhere to specification and drafting standards.Strong problem-solving and solution-generation skills.Strong organising & planning skills.Demonstrates high levels of accountability and adaptability in managing projects.Demonstrates sound judgement and balanced decision-making.Strong drive to deliver work of an exceptional standard despite time pressure and constraints.Strong ethical framework and integrity.High levels of self-motivation.Has a strong technical background with In-depth knowledge to focus on technical accuracy and execution that can translate design concepts into precise technical drawings and documentation.Has excellent written and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure project success.Key Deliverables for the roleExecution and refinement of mechanical designs:Use creativity, innovation, and design thinking to develop concepts and refine them based on functionality, user needs, and manufacturability.Contribute by providing feedback on feasibility, constructability, and potential challenges based on their technical expertise.Manufacturing drawings:Create detailed and accurate manufacturing drawings using CAD software, ensuring they precisely communicate dimensions, specifications, tolerances, and assembly instructions for fabricators.Engagement with fabricators:Directly collaborate with the team to discuss feasibility, material options, and potential challenges.Asks clarifying questions, identifies potential issues, and proposes solutions to ensure designs are constructible.Answer questions, clarify details, and address any concerns about the drawings.Verification of parts:Verify parts against the manufacturing drawings and specifications, ensuring they meet required dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards.Review fabricated parts for adherence to the drawings, especially if complex tolerances or critical dimensions are involved.
