Director of Instruction Vacancy Competition # M-2324-004 A leadership role designed to support, develop and enhance vibrant learning communities. We provide world-class instruction and a rich diversity of engaging programs to inspire success for every student and bring communities together to learn, share and grow. The Director of Instruction for Learning Services is responsible for the educational direction of up to two Families of Schools (FOS). This role includes working directly with the FOS Multi-disciplinary team to support school and educator development along the continuum of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, and Social-Emotional learning. Essential elements of this work are the school planning process, K-12 curriculum implementation, communicating student learning, and educational planning for students with complex needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate the knowledge and skills to: implement progressive school-wide initiatives in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and social-emotional learning; work effectively at the school, District and broader community level; work effectively with both elementary and secondary school educators; develop school strategic plans; work in collaboration with all students, parents, employees and community partners; facilitate complex educational planning meetings; be a leader of change in support of students, staff and educational systems; develop collaboration and networks of practice in a Family of Schools; understand resource allocation at a school level; review assessment and program related information to confirm ministry designation and allocate support accordingly; lead school and district projects and initiatives; resolve challenging parent questions and concerns in a respectful manner; ·navigate complex decision-making processes that incorporate school board policy with actions that affect both parents and community partner groups; address staff challenges; support and develop school administrators through mentorship and plans of assistance; supervise and evaluate school administrators; form school and district administrative teams; update and inform the Board of Education; respectfully understand the politics of a school district and the larger community; The Director of Instruction is part of the extended district management team and reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent(s). Successful completion of annual Professional Growth plans will be part of the expectation for this role.
