Senior Software Engineer (Product Development Backend)

Motion is growing fast (3x YoY), our product is sticky, and we recently raised $12M in seed funding. But we're just getting started and we need your help.We're building a new category of software to bridge the gap between performance marketers and creative teams. Our creative analytics platform offers fast, visual reporting for Meta, TikTok, and YouTube ads to help creative teams understand what's working and why.Our team is still small, with 10 engineers and 35 company wide. After a successful 2023 we're growing the early team to enable more product growth this year and beyond.About you:We are looking for a talented, driven, and experienced backend engineer. In this role, you will play a crucial part in writing backend for customer facing features. As a company, we have a strong bias towards action and are looking for high agency individuals with both technical and product savvy. You will use good judgment to make product choices and technical decisions from our customers' perspective, we expect more than just shipping code.The right candidate favors working on a cross-functional team, has opinions about good product experiences, and embraces a willingness to jump in and get the job done.Motion is a fully remote company but we work closely as a team. We are looking for someone who has some overlap with both EST and CET, somewhere between UTC-5 and UTC+1.Experience:- Experience at an early stage startup- Experience building web apps loved by users- 4+ years of experience as a backend engineer- Experience in Node.js, MongoDB, TypeScript, and associated tools is essential- Ability to follow API documentation to implement new integrations- Demonstrated ability to understand design patterns and follow code conventions to produce performant solutions- Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic mindset that focuses on simplicity to delivery value- Some experience with full stack development is a plus- Impatience for getting things done- Any past experience. Self-taught, bootcamp, degree, founder - we love talent from anywhere.Week 1, you will:- Onboard with our CS team to really get to grips with the product and our customers.- Pair with a senior dev to get set up with our codebase and tooling.- Push your first PR- Have daily support from a member of the engineering teamIn 30 days, you will:- Be fully immersed in our codebase- Work closely with other engineers to push smaller features and solve real issues- Be comfortable contributing to the codebase- Understand how we work and our conventionsIn 60 days, you will:- Collaborate closely on a cross-functional teams to build completely new features- Work independently on product solutions that get shipped to mainIn 90 days (and beyond), you will:- Actively contribute to the engineering process by being vocal in meetings, setting the roadmap, contributing to the tech stack, etc- Be an active contributor across the organization, not just on the engineering team- Continuously learn and tackle unique technical challenges within our evolving product- Independently work on the backend for large features- Contribute to making the engineering team better in ways we haven't thought of yetWhat you'll love about Motion:- Super competitive compensation (depending on experience) that includes equity.- Fully remote team with incredible offsites and retreats to build camaraderie.
