The incumbent will play a key role in the budget development and financial planning and reporting activities, acting as a key advisor for Sheridan's budget holders. The incumbent will manage a portfolio of departments and provide analytical support and training to budget holders for effective budgeting and financial management in the ABB environment.What You'll Be DoingDeveloping and managing the College budget for departments within the incumbent's portfolio, by performing year-round budgeting and financial planning activitiesPartnering with stakeholders to resolve budget issues and recommend solutions to support their business and financial decision-makingDeveloping/improving financial processes (budgeting, analyzing, reporting) and controls to improve productivity and financial performanceMonitoring budget allocations to approved investments, special initiatives and reserve allocations, and tracking actuals, in support of periodic reporting to senior leadershipServing a key role in increasing Sheridan's financial literacy by providing training and support to stakeholders to help them understand the budget, identify variances and opportunities for revenue generation/cost efficienciesDesigning and preparing financial projections to support proposal development, opportunity assessment and other ad hoc analyses by identifying, obtaining and compiling data, designing and analyzing reports, and succinctly presenting findings and recommendationsContribute to interim period close and year-end accounting activities and audit requirementsPerforming other duties as requiredAbout YouYou have the skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse student and staff population as well as a proven commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and inclusion.Your excellent communication and leadership skills give you the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders of all levelsYou bring creative problem-solving skills, a process improvement mindset, and the ability to influence stakeholders coupled with a passion for helping them to become better at financial managementYou exercise sound judgement and your solid financial accounting knowledge, along with your ability to invite new ways of thinking, allow you to solve challenges in a creative way to help advance organizational goalsYour excellent customer service attitude allows you to forge strong relationships with internal clients and drive positive changes within the CollegeYou are eager to learn and enjoy working in a fast-paced environmentThe successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:4-year bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related degree along with 5 years of progressive budgeting or financial planning experienceCurrently holds a CPA designation (i.e., CA, CGA or CMA)Solid financial and analytical skills, including experience with budgets and forecasts, operating plans, financial analysis, financial statement preparation, and funded contract administrationAdvanced Excel spreadsheet skills; Mastery in the creation of complex financial modelsWorking knowledge of CICA and PSA (Public Sector Accounting) standardsUnderstanding of ABB/RCM principles, or strong desire to learnProficient with Microsoft Office suite and accounting software, willing to learn new budgeting softwareExperience implementing process improvementsWho We Are:Every member of the Sheridan community is passionate about the transformational role we play in people's lives.
