Job Title Organizational Unit Requisition # 24-95 Location Shift Type Job Type Regular Full-Time Date Posted By 5/27/2024 Date Posting Closes 6/10/2024 Time Posting Closes: 5:00 p.m. Category Director Education Bachelor's Degree Salary Payband/Range S14 $164,496 - $205,621 Job Description Currently under a department restructure with an upcoming realignment of reporting structures.Under the direction of the Commissioner, Development & Infrastructure Services, the Director, Engineering Services is responsible for the strategic leadership, implementation and delivery of a large and complex, multi-program Department encompassing Capital Projects both linear infrastructure and major projects, Development Engineering, Transportation Services, and Climate, Environment & Sustainability. As the designated Town Engineer, the Director also reports to Council and Committees of Council and provides technical and professional advice on corporate matters. Job Requirements CredentialsPost-secondary degree in civil engineering. Membership in Professional Engineers Ontario and current holder of Professional Engineer's License from the Professional Engineers of Ontario combined with progressive experience at a senior level in a municipal environment.Class "G" Driver's License in good standing and vehicle to use on corporate business.Due to the responsibilities of this position a Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the Town is required. Professional designations that include a Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check will be considered.Knowledge/Skills RequiredSignificant demonstrated advanced senior level experience in municipal engineering design and capital construction management, development engineering, traffic engineering, utility coordination, the application of engineering and asset management principles, theories and practices, at a senior level, in a municipal environment.Progressively responsible experience at a senior supervisory level.Well developed customer service orientation, interpersonal, consultative, team building, problem-solving, analytical and presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to navigate challenging situations with tact, diplomacy and professionalism.Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) information management systems and technical engineering applications.Demonstrated extensive experience in project management, asset management and contract administration.Strong knowledge and application of contract negotiation skills as it relates to development agreements, service agreements and construction contracts.Thorough knowledge of budget preparation and management.Demonstrated extensive ability to coordinate multi-disciplined, multi-million dollar and complex projects. Broad knowledge and skill in all areas of municipal engineering and knowledge of legislative requirements in engineering designs.Knowledge of applicable legislation, bylaws, legal proceedings and the ability to interpret legislation such as Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as the Employment Standards Act.
