Learn more at BHN.com.This position is open to residents located in Ontario, Canada only.OverviewBlackhawk is currently seeking a senior legal counsel to report to the VP, Legal in Toronto, Ontario. The successful candidate will split time equally to support (i) Blackhawk's core business of stored value products through retail, incentive, and ecommerce channels, and (ii) Blackhawk's procurement of strategic global software, products, and services. This position requires a self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and "outside the box" thinker with excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to manage changing priorities and a diverse range of legal duties, and a desire to innovate, grow and excel. The preferred candidate will possess an understanding of and experience with consumer protection, digital commerce, prepaid card products, software licensing agreements, as well as relevant regulatory frameworks. Only qualified candidates will be contacted.Responsibilities Drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements related to the prepaid industry, including agreements with financial institutions, payments networks, and processors Drafting and negotiating global vendor related purchasing agreements Researching and monitoring changes to relevant law and regulations Interacting with clients and internal business teams about regulatory obligations and risk management Creating and maintaining templates Some travel may be required from time to time, primarily to the United StatesQualificationsKnowledge Skills and Abilities Excellent time management and organizational skills Able to work independently, prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment Energetic self-starter with demonstrated initiative Zest for acquiring new knowledge and skills Creative and critical thinker with the ability to analyze information in a fast-evolving environment Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking skills Outstanding written communication and interpersonal skills High level of attention to detailEducation/Experience Law degree with outstanding academic credentials Licensed to practice law in Ontario 5+ years of legal experience Experience working with consumer financial service laws a plusKnowledge of prepaid / payments industry, AML, MSB, and payment association rules a plus#GLDR#LI- RemoteEEO StatementBHN is an equal opportunity employer which values diversity in the workplace.
