Together, we can achieve that goal, growing our team of highly skilled people and offering you the opportunity to tackle big challenges with solutions that make a difference.We're on a quest to find a USV Pilot to join our Ocean Services team to operate our USVs, plan missions, and execute deployments globally. If you're passionate about the oceans and interested in being part of a team dedicated to learning more about the seas using sustainable, affordable, and safe techniques, we'd love to hear from you.Core ResponsibilitiesManage USV deployments including planning, execution, and logisticsAbility to travel internationally to support USV operations worldwideOperate the USV, including transportation, deployment, retrieval and mission controlTroubleshoot and deal with maintenance and USV repair issuesOperate the crewed support boat and ensuring adherence to safety protocolsWrite detailed field and project reports and work with project managers to support ongoing program activitiesAbility to perform shift-work (i.e., 24/7 operations) remotelyObtain the necessary approvals and coordinate with local authorities including Transport Canada, Coast Guard, harbor authorities, etc.Collect oceanographic and meteorological dataParticipate in training workshops and the advancement of materialsCollaborate with engineering and manufacturing departments to improve new builds and test sensor integrationsCollaborate with sales and project managers to estimate effort/budget for new projectsLiaise with stakeholders and customers, including taking point with particular projects and/or groupsEducate and inform general audiences as to our mission, goals, and technologiesRequirementsDemonstrated experience in maritime field work, preferably with remotely operated technologies (2+ years or equivalent)Technical troubleshooting skillsDegree in natural sciences, engineering, or data sciencesStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate scientific information in a clear and understandable mannerUnderstanding of oceanographic data collection and scientific field operationsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively both within a team and independentlyStrong organizational, planning, and prioritization skillsAdaptable and enthusiastic about a start-up environment which includes wearing multiple hatsValid Class 5 Driver's licenseAbility to lift 50 lbs unassistedSkills & Qualifications—Not required but an assetBoat operator training course, SVOP (Small Vessel Operator Proficiency) or higherSDV-BS (Small Domestic Vessel—Basic Safety) course (formerly MED—A3)Marine First Aid CertificateThis on-site position is located in Victoria, BC.
