CORE PURPOSE OF JOBTo teach Method of Mathematics at the Foundation PhaseTo teach Theories of Education at undergraduate levelTo contribute to faculty administration as required KEY PERFORMANCE AREASFacilitate the learning and teaching processes in the facultyParticipate in academic engagementParticipate in faculty administrationConduct, publish and promote research.CORE COMPETENCIESFacilitation of teaching, learning and assessmentTeaching Method of Mathematics to Foundation Phase studentsTeaching Theories of Education to undergraduate studentsHave a sound knowledge of teaching, learning and assessment strategies.Ability to teach the Method of FP Mathematics in English and isiXhosa.Teaching Theories of Education to diverse cohort of undergraduate students.Ability to develop teaching resources for the Method of FP Mathematics.Should be able to develop curriculum.Conducting scholarly work with an increasing focus on Africanization and Decolonization of the curriculum in the Foundation Phase.Be able to supervise postgraduate students.REQUIREMENTSA relevant Masters (M Ed degree or MA in Mathematics), and undergraduate Foundation Phase qualification.A two-year experience of teaching Foundation Phase Mathematics.Sound disciplinary and content knowledge in Foundation Phase Mathematics.Sound disciplinary and content knowledge in Theories of Education.Sound knowledge of various techniques for teaching Foundation Phase Mathematics.Nelson Mandela University reserves the right not to make an appointment.
