Job details

Senior Physical Design Engineer

Do you want to join a leading Semiconductor company that is expanding its presence into Europe, aiming to enhance its global reach and better serve its growing customer base in the region? This strategic move will enable the company to tap into new markets, foster closer relationships with European clients, and provide more localized support and services. By establishing a stronger foothold in Europe, the business is poised to drive innovation and growth, reinforcing its position as a leader in high-performance power solutions.

Position Summary: A highly skilled and experienced Senior Physical Design Engineer is sought to join a dynamic team. This role involves leading the physical design and implementation of cutting-edge integrated circuits, ensuring optimal performance, power efficiency, and manufacturability.

Responsibilities:

RTL Design and Synthesis: Collaborate with the digital design team to understand and interpret RTL designs, perform logic synthesis, and optimize the netlist for area, timing, and power consumption.

Floorplanning and Placement: Develop efficient floorplans and placement strategies, considering various design constraints, such as timing, power, and signal integrity, to ensure optimal performance and routability.

Clock Tree Synthesis and Power Distribution: Design and implement robust clock tree networks and power distribution networks, ensuring low skew, low jitter, and efficient power delivery across the chip.

Routing and Optimization: Perform detailed routing and optimization of signals, power, and clock networks, ensuring signal integrity, timing closure, and design rule compliance.

Chip Assembly and Integration: Collaborate with the back-end team to ensure seamless integration of the physical design with the chip assembly process, including package selection, pin assignment, and I/O planning.

Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Implement DFM techniques and methodologies to enhance yield and reliability, addressing issues such as lithography hotspots, antenna effects, and electromigration.

Verification and Signoff: Perform comprehensive physical verification and signoff checks, including design rule checks (DRC), layout vs. schematic (LVS), and electrical rule checks (ERC), to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.

Mentoring and Knowledge Sharing: Mentor and guide junior physical design engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and promoting best practices within the team.

Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, methodologies, and tools in physical design, and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and practices within the organization.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in physical design and implementation of integrated circuits, with a strong background in RTL design, synthesis, place and route, and chip assembly.

Extensive experience with industry-standard EDA tools for physical design, such as Cadence, Synopsys, or Mentor Graphics.

Proven expertise in power and clock distribution network design, signal integrity analysis, and timing closure techniques.

Strong understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) techniques and methodologies.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex design issues.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Experience in mentoring and training junior physical design engineers is highly desirable.

Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python, Tcl) and version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.

What is Offered:

Competitive compensation package

Comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off

Opportunities for professional growth and career advancement

Collaborative and innovative work environment

Opportunities to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to industry-leading products

Passionate and experienced physical design engineers with a strong commitment to quality and excellence are invited to apply for this exciting opportunity.
