The opportunity The Director, Sales and Marketing reports to the VP, Optimum Mortgage and provides leadership and coaching to the Sales and Marketing Teams to achieve national market growth in Residential mortgage lending from the Mortgage broker channel. This key, hands-on leadership role is responsible for leading the sales and marketing team that will generate annual loan growth through the mortgage broker channel to deliver on annual financial targets. They will be responsible for leading and structuring the team to achieve goals and meet the needs of broker clients, designing compensation programs, setting annual sales targets, planning and executing against annual marketing and sales plans, and setting and managing all sales and marketing activities within annual budgets. As a member of the Optimum Leadership team, the incumbent will play a key role in providing leadership to and setting the strategic direction for Optimum Mortgage. The day-to-day Profitable Business Growth Provide leadership and direction to execute on direct sales strategies, meet/exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and marketing forecasts. Create, implement, and oversee effective direct sales strategies, set, and meet/exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and marketing forecasts. Proactively identify changes in macro-economic environment and competitive pressures to develop and modify strategies and tactics accordingly. Accountable to achieve annual new loans funded and/or sales targets. Maintain competitive knowledge to create and adjust sales strategies. Client Experience Accountable for brand management and increasing brand awareness of Optimum Mortgage in existing and new markets. Responsible to stay current with macro market, mortgage broker industry, and competitors intelligence. A thorough understanding of competitors' offers is required, including risk appetite, pricing and all features and benefits. Assignments frequently involve modifying established methods or procedures, recognizing, and analyzing problems/situations and using trouble shooting techniques to reach a solution. Attend client meetings and conferences to ensure a clear understanding of the market and our competitors remains top of mind. Accountable for development, management, and growth of client loyalty programs. React to the trends identified by internal reporting and responsible for the ongoing management of the referral loyalty programs. Leadership & Culture Lead nationwide direct sales personnel toward achievement of corporate sales objectives by providing leadership through effective communication of vision, active coaching, and development, analyzing sales and marketing results against goals, and taking appropriate action to correct when necessary. Collaborate with Leadership team members to develop and execute organization goals and business plan. Maintain cohesive, highly motivated staff to meet strategic initiatives and long-term organizational goals. Foster engagement and maintain culture with onsite and remote Hybrid working teams. Empower the team to develop improved processes and efficiencies for continuous improvement. Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships and skills that contribute to #One Team alignment and working effectively in a diverse working environment. Foundational knowledge and experience to grow from Relevant post-secondary education with a focus on specialty in sales and marketing, and/or communications or related field. Change Management certification in ADKAR (or equivalent) is considered an asset. 10 years of sales\industry experience; 5 years in a marketing role with demonstrated advanced knowledge sufficient to qualify as an expert, and 5 years of experience managing teams and/or multi-stakeholder projects with attributes to lead a high performing team, change management skills and strategy development. Experience and success in recruiting and retaining a high performing sales team with demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse sales team. Proven business analysis and judgment with the ability to proactively manage business, profit and loss to meet objectives. Strong understanding of all aspects of Consumer/Residential mortgage lending. Professional and leadership competencies Demonstrated ability to achieve sales plans. Forward thinking and proactive while still being able to jump into the day to day when needed. Ability to develop and coach team members. Effective decision-making skills and use of judgment. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skill. Results-driven and deadline-driven in a high volume, team environment. Highly motivated to maximize employee engagement levels, customer service delivery, business volumes, expense control, and profitability contribution. Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products.
