Responsibilities Major Job Activities:• Provide telecommunications strategic DSN support.• Design, install, decommission, operate, maintain,administer and install telecommunications (strategic DSN)equipment. • Ensure O&M support is performed inaccordance with SPIN-C, DOD and USAF policies and procedures.• Administer and manage telephone switch, associatedequipment, integrated voice mail systems, remote switching systems,optical carrier systems, rectifiers and rectifier battery systems,inverters, power supplies, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS),and other telephone sub-systems. • Support equipmentinstallation, placement, or relocation, including system checkout,test, and maintenance. • Perform work in accordance withDoD, USAF, telephone switch manufacturers, manufacturers of systemcomponents and generally accepted telecommunications industrystandards and practices. • Provide reach-back and logisticsupport. • Provide repair, return, and replacement.Material & Equipment Directly Used: Computer, telephone,standard office equipment. Working Environment: • Workingenvironment is a climate-controlled facility. Outdoor temperaturesmay exceed temperatures of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. • Mayrequire support during periods of non-traditional working hoursincluding nights or weekends. Physical Activities: Must be able tolift / push / pull 40 lbs. Qualifications Education /Certifications: • U.S. Citizen • Active SecretTier 3 Security Clearance • High School Diploma or GED;AND • IAT-II Level Certification; AND • SwitchNotification on Nortel SL-100 or Meridian I/Succession 1000 familyof switches; AND/OR • Completed Avaya ProfessionalCredential Program; AND Experience / Skills: • Lead-level,supervisory and practical experience in: shop practices;installation, repair, troubleshooting or maintenance oftelecommunications systems or equipment; solving complex problems,understanding the interrelationships of circuits and ability toexercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support ofcommunications systems or equipment; AND • Expertexperience in maintaining/troubleshooting telecommunicationsequipment: Nortel SL-100; Meridian I / Succession 1000 Family ofSwitches; AVAYA AURA AS-5300; Voice Over Internet ProtocolEquipment (Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco UnifiedVoice Gateway and Cisco Analog Voice Gateways).
