Head of It - Vancouver, Canada - The EmbassyWith The Embassy VFX's continued growth and success, we are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Head of IT to lead our Information Technology department.As the Head of IT, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of our IT infrastructure, and systems administration processes.You will also work closely with other departments, including Pipeline, Supervisors, VFX artists and producers, to ensure that our technology is optimized to meet the unique demands of our industry. Our work has received accolades including Oscar nominations and numerous VES, Cannes, D&AD, Clio & ADCC awards.About You:A strategic, big picture thinkerLead the IT team to design, implement, and manage the company's technology infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud computing systemsDevelop and maintain systems for data backup, disaster recovery, and information security (backup servers, tape backup, offsite backups)Collaborate with VFX artists and producers to ensure that the IT infrastructure is optimized to support their workflows and production needsEvaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve the company's efficiency and productivityEstablish and manage the IT budget, including identifying costsaving opportunities and negotiating with vendors and suppliersEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulations, such as MPAA security guidelinesManage the IT help desk to provide technical support to all employeesDevelop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure consistent and reliable operations across the companyAbility to build and manage multisite setupsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; Master's degree preferred10+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, preferably in the VFX or film industryKnowledge of linux, ZFS, and SMB/CIFS file systemsExperience with PCOIPUnderstanding of Aspera (or similar)Experience with backups and archivesStrong technical skills in server administration, networking, and cloud computingExperience managing software development projects and teamsKnowledge of industrystandard VFX software, such as Maya, Nuke, and HoudiniUnderstanding of cybersecurity best practices and regulatory complianceStrong communication and leadership skillsAbility to manage a team and work collaboratively with other departmentsStrong analytical and problemsolving skillsOther:Afterhours work will be required occasionally on weekendsThis role is onsite 100% of the time to start, with 50% remote afterwardsPlease note that we are only hiring within British Columbia, and those with an open status to work for any employer in British Columbia.We thank everyone who takes the time to apply
