Nursing Support 226 Amb Surg Full TimeDayMF 7a3p Position Summary The Operating Room Assistant performs patient and nonpatient functions under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse. Duties include but are not limited to transport of patients into and from the Operating Room assisting with positioning of patient assisting with the turnover of the OR room by bringing in and removing equipment from the OR rooms stocking supplies in the OR rooms and maintaining orderliness of supplies and equipment in the OR storage areas retrieves ordered medications from pharmacy and blood from blood bank assists in picking cases reports any equipment in need of repair to the appropriate persons performs clerical duties and all other duties as assigned Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: 1. Understands and adheres to our Performance Standards Policies and Behaviors. 2. Performs tasks listed in job summary according to policy and procedure. 3. Integrates patient s rights into work practice. 4. Utilizes current methods of infection control. 5. Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives. 6. Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision making process to include recognition and priority setting related to patient care and unit based issues. 7. Collaborates and communicates with the health care team. 8. Completes competency requirements. 9. Attends mandatory inservices. 10. Attends staff meetings as required/ requested. 11. Utilizes cost containment practices. 12. Adheres to all our policies and procedures including dress code code of conduct customer service attendance and submission of annual physical. 13. Performs other duties as assigned 14. Performs all other related duties as assigned Education & Experience Requirements High School Diploma/Equivalency Previous experience in hospital or with patient care preferred infection control,communication,blood bank,operating room,transporting patients,collaboration,stocking supplies,decision making,patient care
