Unix Systems Administrator BCforward is seeking an Unix Systems Admin to work remotely UNIX System Administrator - remote Must be eligible to get a clearance. JOB DESCRIPTION: * Should be experienced (not entry) level positions. Will participate in a corporate-wide initiative to deploy the application of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) released by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to ensure security compliance. 1. Systems Administration a. Participate in the planning and deployment of the overall STIGs project for all infrastructure. b. Research feasibility of deployment of policies in Navient infrastructure and assess potential impact on application performance prior to deployment. c. Develop and schedule playbooks and/or automated scripts for deployment for OS RHEL-07, RHEL-08, and RHEL-09 servers using an iterative process. d. Coordinate with project team, server/patching teams and application teams to scheduling deployment in non-production and production. e. Assist application teams in troubleshooting, root cause analysis and solution of any issues during testing/validation and post-production. Revise configurations as needed. f. Use scan results to assess configuration success. g. Modify playbooks for specific applications as needed and coordinate deployment of required playbooks to servers using Active Directory. 2. Project Management a. Work with existing support teams to develop understanding of our infrastructure environment and applications. b. Utilize existing change management processes to execute tasks assigned to deliver solutions on schedule. c. Provide relevant updates and communicate obstacles in meeting commitments to manager. 3. Documentation a. Compose commentary to explain any required deviation from STIGs or scan false positives using required forms. b. Gather and append evidence to support explanations for deviations or false positives. c. Submit forms using established processes. d. Verbally support submitted or pending explanations to senior management and application teams if required. Minimum Requirements: 1. 3+ years Red Hat systems administrations experience. 2. 3+ years creating automation and managing large server environments (300+ Servers) with Ansible Automation Platform/Ansible Tower as the primary deployment mechanism 3. Experience with server hardening procedures (STIG, CIS Standards, various agency SCSEM's) including building/modifying/deploying Ansible playbooks based on changes to the standard. 4. Vulnerability management/remediation experience that includes analyzing scanning output and assessing required changes. 5. Familiarity with Active Directory and Windows user access procedures. 6. Understanding of corporate level change and release management processes. 7. Ability to clearly articulate rationale for deviations in simple language that can be understand by auditors and other non-technical staff. Preferred Requirements: 1. Experience with Tenable Nessus and ServiceNow's Security Operations Module (Vulnerability Response) preferred. 2. Experience with ServiceNow IT Service Management is preferred. 3. Experience with audit requirements relative to multiple government agencies (DOD, ED, Treasury, IRS) a plus. 4. Bachelor's degree in IT or Security related discipline. * Will be remote. However, we do want them to reside in the US and be available to work between 9AM and 5PM eastern time on most days. They will be required to work after hours when their work to production servers requires after-hour deployment.
