JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S Air Force, Space Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges JOB SUMMARY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES The Lead System Administrator (SA) performs design assistance, deployment and operational support as well as on-going maintenance of critical systems required to meet contract objectives The Lead SA will coordinate with JT4 departments, the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), and external units to provision, test, maintain, resolve computer system issues and works closely with Cyber Security to maintain a high-level of systems integrity and security • Perform Lead duties that include providing technical guidance and direction to System Administrator group, organizing and planning work center activities/tasks, and reporting task status and performance issues to Supervisor • Assist Supervisor in oversight of personnel for work assignment, scheduling, and mentoring • Develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with customers, team members, and management • Support the administration of all NTTR data clusters, servers, and storage centers • Lead project planning activities to ensure timely and successful completion of assigned projects • Design solutions that are robust, secure, and scalable • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower administrative intervention time where possible • Create and maintain documentation of standard operating procedures and protocols • Use logic and reasoning to understand, analyze, and evaluate complex situations and then to research information to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approach to the situation • Recommend information technology standards, policies and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirements • Collaborate with team members, customers and management to determine project goals, schedules and budgets; communicate vital information to project team members and stakeholders • Coordinate, direct and perform complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and application software packages • Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures • Develop and implement new standards, policies, and procedures • Work closely with Project Management and Network, Software & Hardware Engineering to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented • Create and maintain a disaster recovery, security, and backup/restore plan and policy • Conduct evaluation of new technologies to optimize system/server efficiency and performance • Provide hands-on server support • Expertise in administration of Windows Servers • Ability to author and maintain IT procedural documentation • Provide regular systems monitoring and standardized reporting to identify system hardware and/or software and operating system problems, this includes identifying problems and determining the most efficient way to resolve them • Maintain documentation of all hardware and software implementation, maintenance, and upgrades, this includes equipment and software inventories, and maintenance documentation • Work independently and make appropriate independent decisions on technical issues when supporting systems during off hours, weekends, and at remote sites • Mentor junior System Administrators COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Proficient with PowerShell and other scripting skills • Technical documentation skills • Must be comfortable interacting with management at various levels in a professional manner • Must be able to take ownership of areas of responsibility and make recommendations and decisions on the improvement and operation of those areas • High organizational skills • Thorough understanding of Networking • Hardware and software troubleshooting • Proficient in Windows Server 2012-2019• Proficient in Windows 10• Proficient in UNIX (Red Hat 7 and above)• Proficient in Linux • Expertise with installing, configuring, and operating VMware environment including vCenter, vSphere, and ESXi • Knowledge with AD, DHCP, DNS, File and Print Servers, RDP • Knowledge of and experience with Security Design and Implementation • Experience designing and deploying server cluster and HA strategies • Ability to provide support outside of normal business hours • Knowledge of backup and recovery methods and verification • Knowledge of Storage (SAN, NAS, Local Attached)• Ability to make and test networking cables • Critical thinking and problem solving • Excellent written and verbal communications • Ability to independently understand, troubleshoot, and resolve various IT related issues • Ability to work in a fast paced, schedule-driven, and customer-oriented environment • Familiarity of networking topologies & design • Microsoft Active Directory and design DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • 5 plus years of comparable Lead System Administration experience, such as deploying software packages, writing scripts, performing system updates, securing systems, and designing solutions • Bachelor's degree in related field, specialized training or equivalent work experience • Ability to install, configure, and maintain Windows Server 2012/2016, Windows 10 Operating Systems, and Linux • Experience with Microsoft Server Domain Controllers, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and DNS • Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)• Ability to perform STIG's and remotely control servers • Knowledge of VMWare Suite Products 6.5 and newer Strong understanding of virtualization, virtual networking, and iSCSI/SAN connections • Possess and maintain a valid, state issued driver's license • Must have and maintain CompTIA Security + Certification • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret SCI Clearance • Prefer Additional Certifications in Administration such as: Linux Plus, MCSE, or Cisco for example REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE Bachelors Degree in associated discipline from an accredited academic institution or equivalent experience through technical training, completion of a recognized certification program, or experience Requires at least 9 years of experience in computer system related areas of expertise Must possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in computer science, graphics, and information systems Must have specific experience in the maintenance of Operating Systems and support applications, in a centralized and distributed server environment Must qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and possess a valid, state issued driver's license SALARY The expected pay range for this position is $73,000 to $105,000 The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well
