JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges JOB SUMMARY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES A RF Propagation Engineer V serves as a principal investigator and individual contributor to contract research, development, integration, and sustainment projects Provide SME RF propagation support Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties: • RF propagation simulation and interference analysis • Understanding and communicating advantages and weaknesses in RF propagation computer simulation techniques • Producing documentation related to RF propagation coverage, concept of operations (CONOPS) and requirements • Understanding a myriad of parameters used in RF propagation simulation and communicate purpose, importance of any particular parameter • Using simulation results to apply parametric results to real world situations • Using engineering analysis/experience to interpolate and extrapolate parameters not provided but may be required for RF propagation simulation • Generating antenna patterns • Perform other job-related duties, as required DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS General knowledge of the following is preferred: • Waveform parameters, multiple access types, and modulation techniques used in radar and communication sourced transmissions • Noise figure and cascade gain/noise figure analysis • Link budget calculations, especially air interface calculations • RF propagation polarization parameters • Antenna parameters and patterns • Basic antenna concepts such as an ideal radiator • Antenna arrays, feeds, omnidirectional, and directed beam antennas • Transmission line systems, VSWR, impedance mismatches, and RF connections • RFI testing and the mechanisms that involve radiated and conducted emissions, and radiated and conducted susceptibility • Basic RF transceiver system architecture and components to include pre-amplifiers, power amplifiers, filters, attenuators, switches, matching networks, etc • Specified system component parameters such as 1 dB compression point, third-order intercept point, harmonic levels, and spurious emissions, especially as they pertain to interference • Communicate drawbacks and errors of elevation datasets • GIS mapping software and basic GIS practices involving the production of maps REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 14 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of 10 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum of 8 years of related engineering experience are required for this position In addition, an Engineer V must possess the following qualifications: • Well-established, substantial, professional reputation in one or more of the principal technical disciplines of the company • Demonstrated ability to direct senior technical personnel in project assignments involving research, development, integration, and sustainment of complex systems or processes • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools • Superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers and in writing reports and proposals • Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required Travel to remote company work locations may be required DISCLAIMER The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by personnel assigned to this classification They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of persons so classified Tasking is in support of a Federal Government Contract that requires U.S citizenship Some jobs may require a candidate to be eligible for a government security clearance, state-issued driver's license, or other licenses/certifications, and the inability to obtain and maintain the required clearance, license, or certification may affect an employee's ability to maintain employment SCC: JENG17; JCORP12 Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled
