Position Summary LoanPricingCorp (LPC), the world's leading source of information on syndicated loans, is looking for an expert, and motivated journalist to cover Asia Pacific, which is home to some of the world's biggest companies and multi-billion dollar acquisition deals. The successful candidate will cover the $580 billion loan market in Asia (ex-Japan) for LPC and International Financing Review (IFR), breaking news and writing analysis for all LSEG brands, including real-time services and publications. Loans make up an integral part of funding for companies and the private nature of the loan market means that journalists are able to break best-in-class news on jumbo M&A deals and play a leading role in many of the region's biggest corporate finance, debt capital markets, banking and regulatory stories. Recent high-profile stories include those on potential aircraft financing for airlines in India, borrowings for public sector entities engaged in the real estate sector in Hong Kong, a large rupee loan for Canadian investment firm Brookfield's purchase of telecom towers in India, commodity trading companies relying on ESG financings, among others, as well as thematic stories including topics such as the rise of private credit and sustainability-linked borrowings. We are looking for a flexible reporter with people and communication skills who is comfortable talking to senior loan bankers. The successful candidate will be able to work independently to develop positive relationships with IFR and Project Finance International (PFI) colleagues, and liaise across teams on crossover stories. Role Responsibilities:

  • Breaking news on LPC and IFR's real time services
  • Ensuring a daily flow of information on new deals - pricing, terms, allocations and themes - is covered in a timely and efficient manner across the products
  • Proactive approach to generating content written for expert and non-expert clients
  • Establishing and maintaining close contact with Asian and international banks, lawyers, analysts, treasurers and government officials
  • Exercising sound news judgment on what moves markets and why
Qualifications
  • At least five years experience in finance or media
  • Proficient Cantonese, Mandarin, Bahasa or Hindi a plus
  • Proficiency in Chinese translation a plus
  • Relevant financial reporting experience, newswire experience a plus
  • Track record of breaking news and excellent writing and analytical skills to interpret fact and opinion
  • Flexibility and ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines
  • General knowledge of companies, financial markets, investment banking and macroeconomics
  • Proven organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
