What we’re looking for We’re looking for an experienced Animator to join our Rust team. You'll be animating characters in both 1st and 3rd person, so a strong understanding of body mechanics is key. Candidates should have extensive experience with games animation and rigging, and a current portfolio of previous work demonstrating your abilities. With the option to work remotely, we require a self-motivated team member, who is able to manage their own time effectively and push the quality of their work with a proactive approach. You'll have a keen eye for detail & movement, and communicate with others on the team (both office-based and remote) across all disciplines to implement your animations as required in-game. In this role you will report to the animation lead. The role will see you taking your animations from creation to in-engine, so knowledge of game pipelines is integral. At times you may also be required to work between multiple projects helping in our next-generation game creation. Applicants will be required to provide a showreel displaying examples of their work. Responsibilities
- Creating fluid and responsive viewmodel & full body character animations in Maya
- Importing animations into the Unity engine
- Working with programmers to implement animations & systems in-game
- Acting on feedback from the team to resolve any issues and improve animation quality
- Improve existing animation content where required
- Creation of new animations for Rust including 1st person and 3rd person, character animation, weapon animation etc.
- Collaborate with existing team members to deliver consistent quality content
- Skinning and rigging models to make them game-ready.
- Adapting existing rigs and animations
- Eligible to work and located in the UK
- Experience working as a 3d animator in games
- At least 2x shipped titles
- A reel showcasing experience in both viewmodel & 3rd person animation
- Knowledge of animation implementation in-engine
- A solid understanding of body mechanics and animation principles
- Proficiency in realistic key-frame animation (locomotion & acting)
- Collaboration with other disciplines to make sure your animation works as desired in-game
- An ability to work with / take direction & feedback from other animators on the team
- Great time-management skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Self-motivated and driven to produce and achieve work of the highest quality
- Always proactively finding work to dive into when no tasks are assigned
- Experience and understanding of implementation for core gameplay systems and mechanics
- Proficiency in Maya
- Experience with games engines (Unity/Unreal/Source, etc)
- Ability to accept feedback and constructive criticism
- Local to UK Birmingham or the surrounding area or have strong transport links to Birmingham to work hybrid at our HQ.

- Mechanim /blendtrees / animgraph / animator system experience
- Fan of Rust / survival games
