The Role Our Group HR function are seeking an Employee Relations Manager to join the team and support multiple Marshall business areas, coach, lead, motivate and develop our People Relation Specialist that provide high quality, specialist support to leaders and colleagues - ensuring this epitomises the Marshall culture, meets all compliance requirements and enables the achievement of business objectives. This role reports to our People Relations Leader and will be a hybrid working pattern with two days per week based from our Head Office in Milton Keynes. Due to the nature of our business, you may be required to work across our other business entities. What will I do?

  • To provide specialist advice and solutions on all people relations matters to a range of managers and people across the business – ensuring this support epitomises the Marshall culture, values, meets compliance requirements and delivers business objective.
  • Assist in driving communication and sharing of best practices across the people team to facilitate continuous improvement
  • To coach Senior Leaders throughout to improve their capability to independently manage their people and change situations better
  • Efficient and timely completion of all administration relating to people relations cases and organisation change situations, including managing all relevant correspondence for each case and the maintenance of up to date people files.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the effective provision of people relations support through suggesting improvements in ways of working, policies, processes and the education and upskilling of managers and people
  • Partner business leaders and People teams to create and sustain positive employee relations programs and best practices
  • Support and coach senior leaders through performance management and other employee relations situations and provide guidance
  • Work closely with People Business Partners to establish and maintain ongoing strong relationships
  • To deliver training to senior leaders on various employee relations topics
  • To continually assess the People Relations data and proactively make changes to existing/introducing new policies, processes, tools and training as required to meet these
  • To support on the people policies and procedures ensuring they are end user friendly and to drive the focus on ensuring all business leaders and people are proactively educated and trained on them as required
  • To support the effective management of all tribunals claims and settlement agreements utilising our legal support team
  • Provide subject matter expertise related to employment legislation
  • Strengthen the capabilities of people managers by providing coaching and enablement on performance management, probation management, wellbeing and sickness absence and other key ER areas of focus
  • Act as a change-agent as the business continues to grow with a goal of providing a world class customer and employee experience.
What do I need?
  • Experience in building, coaching, and developing teams
  • Strong, all round people relations experience covering conduct and capability (e.g. disciplinary, grievance, absence, family related leave, flexible working, performance, settlement agreements, tribunal claims) and all organisational change (i.e. redundancy and TUPE).
  • Strong listening and communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Strong relationship building and good coaching skills
  • Experience of working in a fast paced commercial environment.
  • Good experience in building and sustaining effective relationships remotely at all levels
  • Proven knowledge of employment legislation and its application into people policies and processes
  • Good awareness and understanding of people wellbeing and initiatives to support this
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and customer focused
  • Assertive, resilient and comfortable working alone.
  • Proven organisational, time management and efficient administration skills
  • Strong service ethic and customer focus
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively and manage multiple priorities
  • CIPD qualified or equivalent qualification preferable
  • Experience of working in people relations roles in a variety of sectors and organisations
