Senior Associate, Application Developer (Java/MariaDB), Technology & Operations

Business Function Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java-based applications, ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and reliability.
• Design, implement, and optimize database solutions using MariaDB to support application requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze user needs, and implement solutions that meet business objectives.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing and deployment.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in existing applications, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to banking and financial services.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and standards, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the team.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, promoting skill development and knowledge sharing.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6-7 years of hands-on experience in Java development, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
• Proficiency in MariaDB database management, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling.
• Experience working in the banking industry, with a solid understanding of financial products, processes, and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting frameworks, such as HKMA DPS reports and HKMA GDR reports, is highly advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
