Job Description: Structures Foreman To oversee direct and manage activities of workers concerned with assigned construction phases pertaining to constructing or erecting using steel and/or wood forms and other material to build box culverts arch culverts bridges water/waste water plant concrete structures concrete reservoirs concrete lift station structures to set forms for curb and gutter handicap ramps scuppers catch basins roadways and all other concrete related construction on projects; in cooperation with other Foremen Superintendents and General Superintendent. . Roles Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Schedules equipment to coincide with structural steel erection.
  • Ensures proper piece marked steel is installed per plans.
  • Analyzes and plans installation and construction of structural steel
  • Analyzes and resolves worker problems and recommends motivational plans.
  • Assigns work to employees using material and worker requirements data.
  • Assists workers engaged in construction activities using hand tools and equipment.
  • Confers with staff and workers to ensure production and personnel problems are resolved.
  • Estimates material equipment and worker requirements to complete job.
  • Studies contract documents (i.e. specifications details and plans) and estimates to establish procedures for construction on the basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction based on knowledge of available tools equipment personnel and various building methods.
  • Reviews analyzes and discusses the project estimate with the Estimator Superintendent General Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Verifies that all required shop drawings plans mix designs special material approvals traffic control plans and other documents necessary for assigned phases of work have been approved prior to start of the work.
  • Performs quantity takeoffs related to individual phases of work to discover any conflicts with either the agencys or estimators quantities prior to the start of the work.
  • Confers with other supervisors and foremen to coordinate activities of individual departments and/or projects.
  • Arranges for utility blue stake and locates maintain markings and offset references for phases of work and resolves any utility conflicts.
  • Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specific times to conform to work schedule.
  • Inspects and verifies receipt of supplies and materials delivered to the job site. Properly codes field delivery tickets as required and turns into Project Manager promptly.
  • Schedules subcontractors to conform to required work schedule.
  • Reviews weekly job cost reports for errors and problem areas. Informs and discusses with Superintendent General Superintendent and Project Manager suggested actions to be taken to correct.
  • Maintains quality control of work performed by subcontractors and crew.
  • May set up machines and equipment.
  • Prepares weekly a threeweek schedule of work including equipment and labor needs.
  • Keeps Superintendent and/or General Superintendent informed in a timely manner of labor and equipment requirements as the project progresses.
  • Inspects all equipment owned or rented upon delivery to and prior to transportation off the project. Reports all problems and/or damages to proper shop personnel as well as completing equipment reports.
  • Assists Superintendent and/or Project Manager with development of cost estimates for contracts and/or change orders. Investigates and provides pertinent details such as drawings documents photos survey data and specifications to the Superintendent and/or Project Manager so appropriate action can be taken.
  • Schedules all necessary surveying and testing required.
  • Maintains daily logbook and documentation for progress events changes and problems that occur on the project.
  • Maintains field asbuilt plans.
  • Develops quantity reports for all work completed on the project and turns into Superintendent weekly.
  • Completes all required paperwork legibly accurately and timely to include timesheets time and production records and Project SetUp Notebook.
  • Provides for positive drainage at the end of each work shift to protect the project from storm damage.
  • Provides safe job site conditions for the traveling public and pedestrians.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping of the project site.
  • Holds weekly toolbox safety meeting.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Inspects work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and that construction schedules are adhered to.
  • Examines and inspects work progress equipment and construction sites to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met.
  • Locates measures and marks location and placement of structures and equipment.
  • Reads specifications such as blueprints and data to determine construction requirements.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods and equipment performance to increase efficiency and safety.
  • Records information such as personnel production and operational data on specified forms and reports.
  • Suggests and initiates personnel actions such as promotions transfers and hires.
  • Trains workers in construction methods and operation of equipment.
  • Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws regulations or standards.
  • Provides information to supervisors coworkers and subordinates by telephone in written form email or in person.
  • Observes receives and otherwise obtains information from all relevant sources.
  • Provides guidance and direction to subordinates including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Inspects equipment structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Adheres to all Hunter Contracting Co. safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicates and advocates all applicable safety policies and procedures with employees. Enforces all applicable safety polices and procedures with employees and subcontractors.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Work Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of leadership techniques production methods and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of organizational operating practices or procedures.
  • Knowledge of materials methods and the tools involved in construction projects.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words rules of composition and grammar.
  • Ability to motivate develop train and direct people as they work while identifying the best people for the job.
  • Ability to manage own time and the time of others.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions plans specifications and contract documents.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and be able to adapt to a wide variety of conditions.
    • Takes pride in craftsmanship.
    • Possesses a valid Drivers License.
    • Bilingual preferred.
Education & Work Experience Guidelines:
  • MUST HAVE five ( 5 ) years experience as a concrete finisher and formsetter
  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND
  • Two (2) year(s) of supervisory experience; AND
  • Minimum five (5) years structural steel and concrete construction experience;
