Strategic to Senior Strategic Land Use Planner
This role is open to recent graduates looking for an opportunity to start or experienced Strategic Planners looking to extend their strategic town planning career. Tasks & responsibilities As our Strategic Land Use Planner you will:- Conduct a broad range of strategic land use planning functions, including developing and implementing land use strategies, preparation of Planning Proposals and planning studies, Local Environmental Plan preparation and Development Control Plan development.
- Develop, monitor, review and update all strategic land use planning, urban design, social and heritage conservation matters and ensure consistency with State and sub-Regional planning objectives.
- Plan, develop and deliver improved outcomes across the built environment, and act as an advocate for good city planning principles by remaining abreast of best practice.
- Prepare high quality reports and briefings in plain English for consideration by the Director Planning, Committees and Working parties of Council.
- Assist with the preparation, monitoring and progression of the Delivery Program and Operational Plan with regards to strategic land use planning matters.
- Prepare statutory and strategic land use planning instruments such as Local Environmental Plans (LEPs), planning proposals, policy documents, Local Strategic Planning Statements (LSPS), Development Control Plans (DCPs) and contribution plans, ensuring that applicable planning legislation, directions, guidelines and practice notes are complied with.
- Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning providing eligibility for Corporate Membership of the Planning Institute of Australia or equivalent.
- Three or more years of professional experience involving both strategic land use planning and development control.
- Strong project analysis, and demonstrated experience in master planning, structure planning, concept planning and strategic planning implementation mechanisms and tools.
- Demonstrated understanding of current planning systems and best practice planning techniques for delivery high quality built environments to plan, guide and direct the development and delivery of urban growth and the implementation of successful centres and neighbourhoods.
- Thorough working knowledge and experience in the application of NSW Planning Acts and Regulations relevant to strategic land use planning.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills and aptitude for customer service.
- Sound Microsoft Office skills, particularly with Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Current Class C Drivers Licence.

- Annual salary up to $111k p.a. + superannuation, dependent on level of experience, with excellent conditions and benefits under the Local Government State Award
