Laboratory Technician

The focus of this role is managing the test facilities and test activities to support medical device development at GCE’s Portable Oxygen Concentrator innovation Centre. Duties will include maintaining equipment, establishing test procedures, and conducting validation tests on new product. Performance Objectives and Responsibility:

Immediate Performance Objectives

• Ensure that product validation activities are completed accurately to agreed timescales.
• Ensure that test equipment and facilities are utilized efficiently and are well maintained.

The Big-Picture/Strategic Deliverables Work with the mechanical and electronic engineering managers to improve GCE’s ability to accurately assess new products and engineering changes in a timely and cost-effective manner. Improve the efficiency of validation testing and test laboratory throughput. Primary Responsibilities

• Scheduling and carrying out product testing to agreed procedures and validation plans and reporting the results.
• General responsibility for the test lab, including equipment upkeep, calibration, and cleanliness.
• Ensuring work carried out follows health and safety procedures.
• Liaising with with peers at GCE’s facility in India to coordinate validation activities.

Experience : 2 Years Education : HNC/HND Mobility & Travel : Commutable to Haydock UK Skills and Competencies: Key: Laboratory work in a regulated environment. Desired: Experience of working with gasses. Useful: Medical device testing. Soft skills: Excellent communication skills, an ability to work well unsupervised under pressure and to work with remote colleagues.
