A unique opportunity exists for a highly-motivated, hard-working and resilient general primary teacher to join the Student Wellbeing Team at Aurukun State School in 2024 as part of our wellbeing and behaviour support program. To be successful in this role you will be an effective communicator with excellent skills in developing positive relationships and the ability to function to a high standard in a team environment. Our preferred applicant will possess a sound knowledge of Essential Skills of Classroom Management; knowledge of Positive Behaviour for Learning will be highly regarded. The role of Positive Behaviour Support teacher at Aurukun State School is an important part of our commitment to providing our students with the additional support they need to engage with their education. We are currently inviting applications from general primary teachers who demonstrate excellence in building positive relationships and the ability to function to a high standard in a team environment. This role will suit a hard-working, highly motivated and resilient educator. Knowledge of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) would be advantageous as would knowledge of Essential Skills of Classroom Management. The name 'Aurukun' came from the local language name for the large lagoon at the back of the mission. Aboriginal people were relocated from large surrounding areas to the mission over several decades. The Aurukun Shire, with its own Shire Council, was established in 1978. It includes much of the traditional country of the Wik, Wik Way and Kugu people. The 7500 square kilometre shire has rare and beautiful environmental values. Traditional owners are very proud of their country and traditional language and culture are strong. The shire is one of only a few welfare reform communities in Queensland and has about 1200 people.
