Information Governance Specialist Role Overview: As in Information Governance Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, safeguarding information, and promoting best practices across the organisation. Your knowledge and experience in information governance will enable you to provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues on information governance matters including data privacy, confidentiality, and security. - Full-Time Hours: Embrace a full-time role with a standard workweek of 37.5 hours.
- Fixed Term Position: Join our team on a six-month fixed term basis.
- Work Schedule: Primarily remote, with the occasional need to attend training or update sessions in either London or Leeds, typically once or twice a month.
- Office Location : Office locations are in London at Waterloo (SE1 8UG) and in Leeds at 7 Wellington Place, Whitehall Road. LS1 4AP.

- Developing Processes: Develop and implement information governance policies and procedures in accordance with NHS Guidelines.
- Urgent Response Activity: Assist and support colleagues with urgent activities such as personal data breach responses, ensuring timely resolution and mitigation of risks.
- Research: Conduct IG related research, staying updated on developments in information governance legislation .
- Supervision & Support: To assist and supervise junior team members.
- Monitor Compliance: Conduct assessments to monitor compliance with information governance standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Team Building & Collaboration: Work collaboratively across team, function, and organisational boundaries to achieve the best outcomes for the organisation.
- Educational Achievement: Educated to degree level or equivalent experience within a professional working environment.
- Accredited Qualification: Hold an accredited IG qualification.
- Legal Framework: You will have knowledge of the following laws and legal frameworks:
- Data Protection Law
- Common Law Duty of Confidentiality
- NHS Legal Framework
- Records Management
- FOIA & EIR
- Information Governance : Experience of working in an information governance/privacy/data protection role.
- Practical Application: Knowledge of how to apply relevant legal and policy IG requirements in practice.
- Drafting: Experience of writing key information governance documents, including information governance policies and procedures with the ability to tailor such documents to the specific audience.
- Task & Project Delivery: Some experience of working within a project/programme management environment and applying project management practices across multiple stages in the delivery lifecycle.
- Communication Skills: Can effectively communicate key IG issues with colleagues who are not specialists in IG and raising awareness of IG issues across the organisation.
