Department CINEMA (BL-CINE-IUBLA) Department Information Indiana University Cinema (IUC) provides transformative cinematic experiences for all. As an academic support unit and a world-class curatorial program and exhibition space, IU Cinema curates unique artistic, educational, and intellectually enriching programs. This manifests in myriad forms, including but not limited to, film series; visiting scholars, filmmakers, and various film industry professionals, offering students unparalleled access to some of the most influential global artists and experts; conferences and symposia; student-film showcases, internships, and practical industry experiences; and community engagement. Since its founding in 2010, during which the Cinema has served over 320,000 people, programmed films from 52% of the 195 United Nations-recognized countries and offered more than 52% of programming completely free of charge. Job Summary The House Manager for Outreach will creatively and proactively work to establish and maintain lasting and meaningful connections with campus units/centers, IU student groups, and community organizations, promoting IU Cinema programs and partnership opportunities to existing and new audiences, engaging film lovers of all ages and backgrounds with an emphasis on student audience development. Applicants who are big-picture thinkers, enthusiastic about meeting new people, proactive problem solvers, and passionate about audience and partnership development will make the strongest candidates for consideration. Working Conditions / Demands The person in this position must be able to move through a multilevel facility, have the ability to stand for extended periods of time, and be able to move items up to 10 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Additional Information This is a 12-month position, with reduced hours over the summer months. Work Location Bloomington, Indiana Advertised Salary $15.00 per hour for 2 weeks during a training period, then $17.00 per hour after training. Work Hours 15-20 hours per week during academic year 10-12 hours per week during summer months Specific work schedule to be determined based on candidate's and Cinema's needs with a mix of regular in-office, offsite, and remote working hours to be expected.
