The Regional Coordinator, Patient Access Services is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the hospital campuses or outpatient patient access supported sites. Works in tandem with the Regional Manager and others to evaluate resource needs, help triage and provide available resources from other sites. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain a working schedule for Patient Access staff within the assigned region to include float pool staff to support the regional Patient Access Staff, Supervisors and Managers
  • Produces Patient Access schedule, as needed, with dates, times and assignments. Daily review and verification of staff assignments.
  • Creates and completes open shift schedule for appropriate regional dept. coverage. Maintain working process of communication between all regional locations.
  • Creates and maintains schedules for coverage at applicable regional Patient Access hospital and outpatient facilities.
  • Monitors and updates time and attendance for assigned staff in order for hospital and outpatient facility Patient Access Supervisors/Managers/Regional Managers to approve payroll with ease.
  • Assists Patient Access Supervisor/Manager/Regional Manager with staff requests for paid time off and verifying proper use of benefit time.
  • Supports the department with budgeted and non-budgeted positions, maintaining the department staffing report.
  • Assists hospital facility and outpatient Patient Access Supervisor/Managers/Regional Managers in completing all department new hire requirements
  • Participates in the training/orientation of new employees to the department.
  • Serves as a super user for hospital information system and stays up to date with all information pertaining to department and job functions.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sitting up to 6 hours per day, up to 2 hours at a time. Standing for up to 2 hours a day, 1 hour at a time. Continuous use of fingers and hands to manipulate objects. Frequent twisting and turning. Frequent stooping, bending, crouching and reaching above shoulder level. Seeing as it relates to normal and peripheral vision. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation and telephone use. Occasional lifting, carrying and pulling objects up to 25lbs. Ability to push up to 250 pounds in a wheelchair. EDUCATION: High school graduate, degree in business/medical administration preferred TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 3+ years healthcare experience in a hospital or medical office setting required. Previous experience working as a medical registrar preferred. Highly competent in registration procedures and insurance processing. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required. Computer experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD 10 preferred. PC experience required. HOURS: Full time, Mon-Fri with occasional other coverage possible. Core hours are 7:00 AM- 3:30 PM, candidate must be flexible to other hours based on coverage needs.
