ITTConnect is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to work remotely for a client in the US. This is a position with a global leader in consulting, digital transformation, technology and engineering services present in nearly 50 countries. The end client is in the Telecom area (internet, mobile, cable TV provider). Initial assignment until December. Job location : Remote, work from home anywhere in Brazil, following US Eastern time. All interviews will be in English only (must be professionally fluent). You will have a dynamic role in the Linux DevOps group at the client, being integral to their migration from a Rancher/Kubernetes environment to GCP/Anthos. Key Requirements :

  • 10+ years of IT Infrastructure related experience.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in supporting Java applications and services hosted in Linux environments.
  • Experience with cloud hosted applications.
  • Knowledge in VMWare, Python.
  • Platform support - this is mostly development infrastructure support (not production), but might occasionally be L4 support for production systems.
  • Understanding of analysis and how to drive toward resolution while participating in large group discussions.
  • A self-starter, can problem solve and seek out info/answers independently.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Good at vendor communications and ability to drive working sessions.
Linux:
  • Ability to run Linux commands to troubleshoot application bugs, network and other application-related activities.
  • Perform patching and maintain BareMetal servers/VMs.
  • Install OS in VMs /create VM template to create new servers.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors / submit SR to get vendor involved in resolving issues.
Kubernetes:
  • Ability to perform cluster level administration on K8s platform.
  • Creating and maintaining scripts to maintain, monitor and alerts on K8s platform.
  • Usage of kubectl line commands, YAML and able to troubleshoot/fix the issues.
Middleware:
  • Knowledge on managing web servers such as Jboss, EAP or Tomcat.
  • Installation/configuration/troubleshooting activities on JBOSS EAP/Wildfly.
  • Knowledge on messaging tools and technology.
  • Installation/configuration/troubleshooting on Artemis Messaging Queues or similar platform.
Docker:
  • Good experience in writing Docker files.
  • Creating images, maintaining Docker registry.
Ansible:
  • Playbook creation for repeatable tasks.
  • Perform installation of software (platform and code deployment).
  • Take documentation and create roles to install software.
  • Create reusable roles and playbooks.
  • CloudFormation and Terraform.
Monitoring Tools:
  • Splunk, New Relic or other monitoring tools: Good understanding including query & dashboard creation and modification.
  • Ability to create alerts and dashboards.
Application Performance Tuning (on a daily basis):
  • Participate in load testing and resolve testing bottlenecks.
  • Java heap and thread dump analysis.
Jenkins:
  • Knowledge and understanding of Jenkins Pipelines.
  • Ability to analyze console job log for errors.
OS Support and Troubleshooting:
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and/or Amazon Linux/Alpine Linux.
  • Windows 2012/2016.
API gateways:
  • Working knowledge on API management (using any tool).
Added advantage to have knowledge on below tools & technology:
  • Kubernetes Platform: Rancher, GCP.
  • Hashicorp Tools: Vault, Consul.
  • Middleware: JBoss EAP, JBoss Fuse (osgi karaf).
  • Messaging Services: Artemis Brokers, Qpid Routers.
  • AWS Services: EC2, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM Roles, Dynamo DB.
