As Director Sustainability Strategy you are responsible for the success of our company’s sustainability strategy. You interact with a cross-functional team of experts from R&D, Operations, Commercial and Compliance to design and implement key initiatives and ensure we reach our ambitious sustainability goals. Your knowledge and cross-industry network enables you to take sustainability to the next level at Leica Microsystems . YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regularly benchmark the competitive landscape and assess sustainability trends & existing initiatives across the life science industry, customers and key suppliers as well as within Leica Microsystems (LMS) and across Danaher.
- Lead the development, implementation and regular review of a differentiated Leica Microsystems sustainability strategy covering all relevant areas (e.g., green-house gas emissions, supply chain sustainability, renewable energy, waste reduction, product design/circular economy, customer sustainability assessments).
- Represent Leica Microsystems at relevant Danaher sustainability groups and industry associations, building a strong network of sustainability leaders across Leica Microsystems, Danaher operating companies and external industry leaders and leveraging key insights to inform and evolve Leica’s sustainability programs.
- Contribute to the Leica’s employer branding and design key communication activities to ensure stakeholder engagement and broad internal and external visibility of the sustainability program and its progress as well as strong employee engagement.
- Lead a cross-functional team within the global Leica Microsystems matrix organization to review & design relevant initiatives and overseeing successful strategy execution.
- University Degree in Life Science, Engineering, Sustainability or similar field mandatory; MBA and/or post-graduate education required
- Strong experience in sustainability related fields - preferably within the life science industry – thereof at least a few years of successfully leading sustainability programs, changing business practices and delivering tangible results towards ambitious net-zero targets in a global environment (fluent in English)
- Extensive knowledge of sustainability practices, applicable laws and regulations with a solid understanding of the life science industry and a strong network across key sustainability leaders
- Results-driven strategic-analytical problem-solver with the ability to translate complex information into impactful and differentiated strategies as well as the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences.
- Ability to perform exceptionally in fast-paced, performance-oriented environment with excellent time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities and changing business needs.
