POSITION PURPOSE The role of Business Manager (BM), GIO Shared Services APAC is critical in enabling the efficient day to day running of the GIO APAC operations. The BM is responsible for analyzing, planning, organizing, monitoring, facilitating, and reporting of GIO cross functional activity with a focus on risk and project management. The role provides an exceptional broad insight into the end-to-end running of the firm’s investment operational function. The foundational purpose of the BM is to ensure ongoing operational risk reduction including for outsourced services, the support of ongoing process improvements and the reporting of activity, risks, insights, and trends to Leadership. The BM is also accountable for ensuring GIO APAC adheres to the firm’s operation processes as they relate the compliance with internal procedures, business continuity and incident reporting. All these activities directly support the business unit and firm’s strategic goals and objectives.  Principal Responsibilities

  • Risk Management – records, tracks, and assesses operational risk, incidents, and trends for GIO APAC and provides periodic, meaningful analysis and reporting to leadership with a particular focus on growth markets (Australia and Japan). In collaboration with GIO subject matter experts, ensures preventatives measures are implemented and potential process improvements pursued.
  • Project/change management - provides strategic support and contributions to both regional and global projects by providing consolidated GIO APAC technical or other input. Leads small to mid-size scale initiatives by applying sound project management discipline to achieve on time, on budget, to scope delivery.
  • Relationships - builds consultative partnerships with business leads both in-and externally to identify opportunities to improve existing processes, data flows, or allocations based upon changing business needs. Responsible for implementing the improvements.
  • Problem solving – provides support and develops solutions to address complex and ad-hoc business needs. Tracks issue resolution to inform policy and procedures and increase the efficiency in which problems are resolved.
  • Transparency – provides Leadership relevant and current information and analysis to inform better decision making as it relates to supporting business and corporate strategy. Ensures period management reporting to Leadership, Steering Committees, and Boards timely, accurately and in good quality. This will include dashboards outlining relevant operational activity, risks and projects.
  • Outsourced services – collaborates and works closely with the Head of Shared Services APAC in relation to driving optimal outsourced solutions, cost effective and to acceptable risk tolerances. Provides where necessary coverage for the Head of Shared Services. This activity also extends to service provider spend and approval processes.
  • Provides tactical and other ad-hoc support to the GIO APAC team as required and directed to.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES / SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS Required Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience 8+ years of total relevant work experience Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment and build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Demonstrated initiative to proactively initiate process improvement opportunities and see them through to completion.
  • Good understanding of Investment Operations and outsourcing oversight
  • Self-starter, able to manage day-to-day activities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong, open-minded collaborator, able to embrace change.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree - Business, Accounting, Finance, or technology related field and 10+ years’ experience.
  • Knowledge of the securities or financial services industry preferred
