Job details

Ko wai Mātou | Who are we? We are the only iwi-owned Māori health research centre in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our vision is to transform Māori lives through excellent research. Whakauae operates under Ngā Tikanga o Whakauae, a set of principles which we draw upon to guide our day-to-day business and how we work with funders, partners, and research participants. Our principles draw upon values laid down by Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Hauiti for all groups working under that mantle of the iwi. The iwi values are mana, rangatiratanga, kaitiakitanga, manaaki tangata and whanaungatanga. Te Tūranga | The role This fixed term Office Manager position is a hugely important role and person for our team. Why fixed term you might ask? It will be for a six-month period (approximately) while we recruit for a Business Manager – keep an eye out if you are interested in that role! We need someone to come in and hit the ground running. In terms of the work you will be involved in, it’s a pretty standard Office Manager role – finance, IT, facilities, people/HR, health/safety/hauora, and all the administration and operational tasks in between that make an office run smoothly. You will also manage a small team of administrators who all have a deep passion for the work they do. You will work closely with the Research Centre Director on a range of operational and governance work, as well as the Research team who look to you for advice and support on a varied number of topics. Coming into the team, you will have a deep motivation to contribute to our vision as well as being open and willing to work and learn within a strongly values-based, kaupapa-Māori environment. You’ll be super-organised, love a good process, and know how to get the work done while managing the need for detail and maintaining a high standard of work. You’ll also be well versed in using Xero and MS365. To make an immediate impact, your experience, skills and knowledge will come from working in similar roles that are transferrable to a research organisation. All of this is backed up by a relevant qualification or equivalent experience. If you share our kaupapa and want to contribute to meaningful research and change, we would like to kōrero. In case you are thinking “I don’t know Te Reo” or “I am not confident with tikanga Māori”, that’s OK. What is important to us is your openness to learn, and your willingness to share, be inclusive and respectful. Contact Genna on 021 537 875 or recruit@robynyoung.co.nz to learn more about the role.
