The Role: We are looking for someone to join our ‘Casualty’ team based in our Horwich (near Bolton) office in the role of ‘Casualty Litigated Claims Handler’. Our Casualty team deal with defending employer liability and public liability cases on behalf of insurers. These cases have occurred in the work place or in a public area. The team help defend the claims in order to reduce costs for our clients. EL/PL is a sought after area of personal injury and this is a great opportunity to gain entry into this area or continue on your development path. Accountabilities of the Role:

  • The Casualty Litigated Claims Handler will manage a caseload of EL/PL delegated authority fixed fee cases on behalf of a number of insurance clients
  • You will work in conjunction with a more experienced file handler within the team who will be involved in setting strategies and making liability decisions, they will be there to assist and support your development
  • The role will require a forensic and analytical approach to the issues together with experience and/or appreciation of the documents and evidence required in these types of cases.
  • The work types likely to feature in the caseload are Pre-action disclosure files, Infant Approval Hearings and EL/PL files handled on a Delegated Authority basis.
  • In addition, the Handler will support File Handlers on tasks within their caseloads.
Required skills & experience:
  • Previous personal injury experience whether that be file handling or assisting
  • Previous litigation experience from either an EL/PL or RTA background
  • Self-confident with good telephone and communication skills with people at all levels inside and outside the business
  • An ability to organise and prioritise tasks using initiative
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when required
  • An ability to maintain attention to detail
  • Good Literacy and IT skills
  • Good team worker with the flexibility to do what is required to get a result and ensure client service levels are met
  • Driven to achieve goals and high standards of work
