Head of Legal Band 8b £64,408 - £73,961 Remote/Hybrid Working - 1/2 days in the office per month NWL Procurement Services (NWL PS), is an innovative shared service that provides procurement and supply chain management services to enable partner organisations to increase efficiency, deliver more from supply partners and improve the overall service experience for stakeholders, staff and patients. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a background in Public Sector Procurement / Commercial Law to join the organisation and lead the in-house legal function.
- Determine and implement commercial legal strategy
- Provide dedicated legal service for procurement and contractual matters
- Undertake factual investigation of commercial claims and liaise with external legal counsel
- Draft legal documentation, policies, and procedures
- Provide training on legislation and contribute to team's knowledge transfer
- Act as advisor on legal matters to various stakeholders
- Internal: NWL PS Category Directors, Sourcing team, Clinical and Non-Clinical Senior Management, Delivery Board members, Trust CFO’s and their teams
- Communicate sensitive information for legal advisory service
- Provide expert advice on statutory compliance and interpretation
- Handle complex commercial claims and negotiate settlements
- Instruct external legal counsel and manage outsourced casework
- Lead governance and compliance activities
- Prepare and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Ensure long-term strategic action planning against risks
- Represent clients in sensitive situations and provide highly complex information
- Review high-value, high-complexity contracts
- Assist with preparation, review, and risk assessment of commercial agreements
- Draft model contracts and diverse types of agreements
- Lead in commercial and legal negotiations on high-risk contracts
- Build key relationships with legal and procurement professionals
- Lead procurement teams in best practice, coaching, and mentoring
- Deliver core legal specialist training
- Engage stakeholders in procurement and contractual matters
